Hopstretch Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 One of these just came and went on Agon for $845. Looks like a whole lot of happiness for the money. Anyone know anything about the builder? 807 Tube Stereo Amplifier Quote
spritzer Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 It's certainly a lot of amp for the money and it is even well built. Dew eet!!! Quote
Hopstretch Posted August 23, 2008 Author Report Posted August 23, 2008 Sadly it's already gone. I just thought it looked interesting. Quote
Jon L Posted August 23, 2008 Report Posted August 23, 2008 Sadly it's already gone. I just thought it looked interesting. Yeah, I thought about it yesterday before it was sold. But I don't need another push-pull amp in my life about now and all those Hammond transformers... Quote
nurxhunter Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 The Power Transformer is from Sansui 1000A It sound greats on Senns and Grado. Sounds great on 90db and up speakers. Jeff Larson the builder is great in supporting, no matter who was first owner (I am second). Audio Art. Quote

But, as Mel knows, I tell him to hang on to the amp .... what a beauty!!! Quote
AlanY Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Anyone ever see: Abraxas: Guardian of the Universe? Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Terrible movie. Quote
Frihed89 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I corresponded with this guy some time ago. He was eager to build me an SET amp, but I can't find his email. Write him on Ebay or try [email protected]. Seemed like a down-to-earth guy. His home page was abraxasaudio.home.att.net/quicklist.html . Quote
nurxhunter Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 Funny, not only Earl, but three other buddies tell me to hold it, all four fellers I respect and trust. Lately I have been listening on Monitor Audio Silver 9i with Abraxas 807. Jeff sure knows how to build a swell amp, I must say. The 807 sounds to me much different that 6L6G, the latter is much more 'tubey' sounding (which is charming) the 807 sounds much more linear and transparent--but--might be the circuits I am hearing and not only tubes, as I am comparing amps. The 807 sound to me like a 7591 (which was in my Sansui 1000A)--linear, and the 6L6G sound like what I imagine a SET amp driving high eff. speakers would sound like--charming. The 6V6-G sounds right in between these two. But, I may be speaking through my glass here. Quote
