naamanf Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Any one else here into car audio? This is a little install I did about two years ago. I plan to change it up a bit when I get back and maybe compete a little more. 2007 Tahoe install - MP3Car.com
JBLoudG20 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I used to be, but for SPL not SQ. Nowadays its hard to pack 4 18"'s on a motorcycle.
aardvark baguette Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I dont really keep up with the new stuff, but I used to lurk some of the boards before I bought my "system". Though its nothing compared to yours. Maybe I'll snap some pictures this weekend. Though there's not much to see.
zippy2001 Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 naamanf, my hats off to you, that is one awesome truck audio system. that must have taken quite a bit of time and effort.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 I was interested passively for a while, until I heard a professional install. Then I decided I was happy with my factory Clarion OEM'd system.
Hopstretch Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 2007 Tahoe install - MP3Car.com Wow! Just ... wow!
n_maher Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 The first legit use of a locking RCA I've seen, nice.
diebenkorn Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Used to be. Still have cdt/image dynamics/kenwood in my car but with all the soundproofing a car needs and other things rather put time/money elsewhere. After listening to my headphone setup I went in my car and realized it need some work! Beautiful work on your truck. How does it sound?
aardvark baguette Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 To anyone that may be interested in pursuing this, all that silver damping material in the link is really what makes the system shine, imo. I'd rather have $100 speakers and $500 worth of damping mat installed than $500 speakers and $100 damping mat installed. Its really critical in cars. Most car doors have incredibly thin and resonant metal. The stock speaker mounting points are usually directly coupled to all that metal. Just my 2 cents.

After listening to my headphone setup I went in my car and realized it need some work! Beautiful work on your truck. How does it sound? It sounds very good but do to the fact it's a truck, it will never be a two seat car. I much prefer to listen to music in my car than in my house. But then again I need to seriously upgrade my house set-up. To anyone that may be interested in pursuing this, all that silver damping material in the link is really what makes the system shine, imo. Getting rid of all the resonance and vibrations definitely is a large part of getting it to sound good. Speaker placement also plays a large amount into it. Great speakers in a crappy location will sound like crap. You also need a good crossover/eq to fix things that placement/enclosure design can not. I think that's part of the reason I like it because it's a real challenge to get things right.
lostonetr Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Went through all the pages. That is truly some amazing work.
