Salt Peanuts Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 As the subject states, my GS-X has arrived. I received the amp yesterday and quickly set it up in my system once I got home from work. As some of you are already aware, the amp looks really, really nice, both inside and out. It is bit smaller than I had expected, especially after getting used to the size of a Gilmore Reference that I used to own. I'll post some pics soon when I get around to taking out my camera. No listening impressions yet since I'm having issues with my ears/hearing right now due to horrible allergy and sinus condition that I've been suffering.
Post Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 since you have a K1000 and a RS-1, i look forward to your impressions of such different cans through this amp!
Salt Peanuts Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 since you have a K1000 and a RS-1, i look forward to your impressions of such different cans through this amp! I'm looking forward to it as well, once I can hear better. I also need to reterminate RS-1's for balanced operation.
Post Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 I'm looking forward to it as well, once I can hear better. I also need to reterminate RS-1's for balanced operation. absolutely, balanced RS-1s are some of the best cans i've ever heard (coming out of a singlepower sds-xlr, but i'm sure looking forward to the GS-X's take on it!)
Salt Peanuts Posted May 16, 2006 Author Report Posted May 16, 2006 absolutely, balanced RS-1s are some of the best cans i've ever heard (coming out of a singlepower sds-xlr, but i'm sure looking forward to the GS-X's take on it!) Yeah, they really did sound nice out of SDS-XLR (or was that Supra-XLR I tried them with?) when I tried them at past meets.
hirsch Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Yeah, they really did sound nice out of SDS-XLR (or was that Supra-XLR I tried them with?) when I tried them at past meets. If it was a single-box unit, it was a Supra. If it was a two-box unit, and you got a hernia lifting it, it was an SDS-XLR
Yikes Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Haj, Congratulations! I am truly envious. We?ll have to get together once she?s broken in. It?ll be cool comparing balanced Siltech SA5000?s to balanced RS-1?s. Ethan
Grand Enigma Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 soooooooo......What do you think!!?!?!?!? huh??!?!? tell us!?!?!?! Billy has proven worthless in regards to feedback on how it sounds... especially considering you had the Balanced Ref. Oh and those lovely cables you have for it And most importantly how do the balanced KSC35s sound

I also gotta try out the balanced KSC35's. ... stupid east coast and spring time You're telling me. My allergy/sinus has been kicking me in the arse this spring far worse than usual.

n_maher Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 As the subject states, my GS-X has arrived. You're officially required to attend the next Boston meet Salty! Congrats, this is the "current-end-of-the-line" setup right ?

Salt Peanuts Posted May 17, 2006 Author Report Posted May 17, 2006 Ok its been a day now you are better... on with the pictures and impessions. Sorry, but my hearing's still out of whack for the most part. I haven't been able to take any good pics of it either since I haven't really been home of late (work and life too busy). I'm hoping I'll get some pics sometime tomorrow late night since then I'll be out of state for few days.
Yikes Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 Action pictures This shot is the GS-X fetching a ball This one is the GS-X Para-sailing. This one is the GS-X in mid-coitus Can you teach it tricks? Anything but playing dead
Ben Gramain Posted May 17, 2006 Report Posted May 17, 2006 RS-1's always sound nice at meets. It's when you get them home that things change Will be keeping an eye on this thread. I'm keen on the GS-X but I'm also eyeing the Max Balanced.
Salt Peanuts Posted May 18, 2006 Author Report Posted May 18, 2006 I just realized that what I wrote on my last post sounded odd. Of course, I couldn't fix it by the time I figured out my mistake. Doh. Anyways, here are some pics. Any and all spots, lines, etc. are some dust and not scratches. Please bear with the poor lighting, poor picture quality, and lack of any image processing. I would've used K1000's for the last pic, but I was too lazy to take them out of their box.
Grand Enigma Posted May 18, 2006 Report Posted May 18, 2006 I see some nice balanced KSC35s that would have been great for the shot there on the left of the last pic
Salt Peanuts Posted May 18, 2006 Author Report Posted May 18, 2006 I see some nice balanced KSC35s that would have been great for the shot there on the left of the last pic No worries, I didn't forget about them. I just had to rush through to get those pics before I left my place. I'll make sure to get pics of them plugged in when I'm back at my place.

Salt Peanuts Posted May 18, 2006 Author Report Posted May 18, 2006 You're officially required to attend the next Boston meet Salty! Congrats, this is the "current-end-of-the-line" setup right ? Something like that. Though I really think I'm pretty much done for a long while now.
