Salt Peanuts Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Well, I must say there were few more big names that I anticipated on the cut list, though not entirely surprising. And thank you Vincent Jackson for being a jackass and ESPN autodraft.
VPI Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 He might actually sit out the season. At least you got him late in the draft, right?
VPI Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 In case anyone hasn't noticed, the season starts this week with a Thursday night game between New Orleans and Minnesota. You need to have any players on those teams in or on the bench before the game starts.
penger Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Not in the mix but... Houshmandzadeh going to the Ravens might be worth a look.
shellylh Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Jeff and others: How do you know if a specific player will be playing in a particular game (is there a place where you can find the starting lineups for each game, before the game starts). Also, what happens if a player gets injured in the middle of a game or gets taken out?
VPI Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 (edited) You look at the My Team tab and it will tell you who your players are playing and what time they are playing. You also need to watch for injuries as some players will be game time decisions over the course of the season. Injuries are really the only thing that will keep most players out of the lineup unless you drafted some second/third string people. You will also see projected points for each of your players. This is the projected scoring that the wizards at ESPN have posted for each player. They are often far from accurate but can help you in deciding who to play. You can also look at the scoreboard tab to see the projected spread for your game this week. You are a 5 point favorite over Nate right now. If they get injured or taken out you are stuck with them. That is why picking a player that won't be benched and hoping that they make it through the game without injuries is what you need. Some of it comes down to luck, some to research/planning. shellylh Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 Thanks, that is quite useful. I thought I was playing Raffy the first week?
VPI Posted September 7, 2010 Report Posted September 7, 2010 You are playing Raffy and you are a 18 point favorite over our returning champ. Vicki is a 5 point favorite over Nate.
VPI Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Unfortunately, you will find that those projections are rarely all that accurate. I was in that position, projected to beat Dinny soundly first game last year, when we were at DanJam, and he destroyed my team.
boomana Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 So my team won't officially win or lose until all the games are played this week?
shellylh Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 I'm liking my RBs right abiut now.
VPI Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Yeah, it looks like you might start your Fantasy Football career by destroying our returning champ. I knew Arian Foster was someone that I wanted.
Salt Peanuts Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 It looks like I'm starting out this season like the last season - with a loss. As long as I don't start off with 4 straight losses again, I'll be happy, though.
VPI Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Dinny beat me to start me at 0-1 last season but I am feeling okay with the lead I have built up on him now.
boomana Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Your (Shelly) team is killing Raffy's. I'm liking Manning on my team right now. Nate's beating me so far, but I'm hoping Gore and Forsett will pick up some big points later today, and the Jets defense can give me something tomorrow. It might be close. So, here's something I don't understand: my TE isn't going to be doing much for awhile and i don't have another tight end. Can I get one, though the pickings might be slim at this point?
VPI Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 You can pick up and drop players each week from the waiver wire. Go to the players tab and you can pick a new player. Waivers all go through on Wednesday I guess and then you will find out if you got the player or if someone that is higher on the waiver list picked your player up. Right now the Waiver list is reverse draft order.
shellylh Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Good pick with Peyton Vicki. He threw a lot of passes today... although not enough to be the Texans (who finally beat the Colts ). Speaking of QBs, if the Texans keep running with Foster, my QB (Schaub, Texans) isn't going to be accumulating many points.
VPI Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 I would worry more about his shoulder than too much Foster. Way too much offense in Houston to worry.
shellylh Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Vicki: You can pick up anyone who is a free agent, FA (not a WA), immediately without waiting until Wednesday. I'm not sure if there is anyone worth getting though.
boomana Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Bah. Unless the Jets defense becomes superheroes tomorrow, I lost.
n_maher Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Bah. Unless the Jets defense becomes superheroes tomorrow, I lost. Stranger things have happened Vicki. Shelly, I'd be happy to offer up David Garrard in a trade. He logged a reasonable 25 points today on my bench.
