The Monkey Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I know that java-fi will probably have my head, but I need a good auto coffee maker for the morning. Yes, I have a French press, but I just don't have the time in the morning most days. So, here's what I need: a reliable coffee maker with a timer that makes good joe. Flavor over looks and not too expensive. Help me.
grawk Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I want a superauto that can make cafe crem
n_maher Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I've been using one of the Cuisinart 12-cup Grind & Brew models for about 4yrs now. I occasionally use the timer and it's never failed me but since it only takes about 10min. to brew a pot and the fact that the grinder is loud enough to wake me up I tend to leave it till I'm already away. Cuisinart - DGB-550BK

Bob_McBob Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 I know that java-fi will probably have my head RRAWR FRENCH PRESS OR NOTHING
grawk Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 My recommendation is just to install an instant hot water tap in your sink, costs about $200 installed. And get a decent burr grinder for about $50. Set the number of cups, start the grinder, then get the hot water, add grounds, mix, wait 4 minutes. Great french press coffee quick and easy.
Dusty Chalk Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 My housemate has an automatic coffee maker -- it's called a car: she drives to Starbucks.
grawk Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Starbucks is what you drink when you need caffeine and can't get coffee or energy drinks
Hopstretch Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 i need to get an espresso machine, at some point. You'll be first up against the wall when the revolution comes!

I like this idea, but as lazy as it sounds, the French press just doesn't work for me during the week. Getting out of the house with The Little Monkey is hard enough as it is that I need to be able to just throw a switch. However, you've reminded me that I should be using the press every weekend.
grawk Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Once you have instant hot water, it gets pretty easy.
tyrion Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 I had a Zojirushi at home and have one at the office. The one at home had some issues but the one in the office that probably makes 4 or 5 pots a day has been perfect. It meets my two requirements, hot coffee and no warmer.
Blackmore Posted August 16, 2008 Report Posted August 16, 2008 Well, not cheap, but one of the best you can get, imo JURA's coffee machines: IMPRESSA and SUBITO ::
The Monkey Posted August 16, 2008 Author Report Posted August 16, 2008 HE DOESN'T HAVE TIME TO STIR AND PRESS A LEVER AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES! Precisely! You all know how infinitely precious my time is! I have time only to press a lever, none of this stirring nonsense.
moray james Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 dirt cheap and the best coffee I have ever had every time fast too. [url=http://www.aerobie.com/Products/aeropress_story.htm]Aerobie
Blackmore Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 What they call new isn't new at all. Very well known La Pavoni needs some hand work as well and I think the idea are pretty close to this simple AeroPress. If I were you, I would take a look at this one as well, NESPRESSO. https://secure.nespresso.com/precom/sima/selector_us_en.html dirt cheap and the best coffee I have ever had every time fast too. grawk Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 That link is bad, and I can't find any models at nespresso.com that match that picture.
Blackmore Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Seems that I can not change anything in my post:confused: Try this one pls, choose your country and here we go... And the machine on picture isn't NESPRESSO, it was an example of Italian handcraft La Pavoni http://www.lapavoni.com/ vs.. Aero thing, kind of.. Coffee machines and premium blends by Nespresso (The Netherlands)
grawk Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I didn't have any trouble finding their website, and I still can't find a model that looks like the one from your picture. What model are you talking about?
Blackmore Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Can you find it now? La Pavoni Official Website I didn't have any trouble finding their website, and I still can't find a model that looks like the one from your picture. What model are you talking about?
grawk Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Can you just say what model you're talking about, instead of posting links to corporate websites?
