LFF Posted July 29, 2008 Report Posted July 29, 2008 Keep in mind some DCC CDs have a gold and silver version. In this case the difference is not just in the color of the disc, but the gold versions using SH's tube mastering system, where as the silver is mastered with solid state equipment. The silver versions can be found for pretty cheap usually and are a great value. Not all of the silver discs have solid state mastering. Oh - and not all of the gold discs feature tubes. MFSL has had some great titles. Also want to add that MFSL has done some "questionable" eq work at times. Some MFSL titles also use the wrong tapes. On the bright side though, some are FLAT transfers from the actual master tapes. So, in short, MFSL is hit and miss. DCC are definitive versions to me. However, the artist selection may not be for everyone. The mastering, be it solid state or tubes, is always top notch.
