Salt Peanuts
Can you purchase Applecare during the first year? Yep - it's basically an extension of your original warranty, which is why Apple doesn't let you buy it after the original warranty expires (i.e., one year after the purchase). I have one for my MacBook, though not for my iMac.

archosman
Looks like they've definitely changed the internals. Relocated the superdrive to the upper right corner of the keyboard instead of the lower right corner. Dunno about the keyboard...
grawk
The macbook has the drive in the upper right even now
aardvark baguette
Dunno about the keyboard... I guess the MB Air keyboard is the new style here. I typed on one in Best Buy a few months ago and thought it felt great.

tyrion
The question for me is do I need the 2.4 or should I save my firm the extra $200. Any thoughts on whether go with the base 2.4 or a 2.0 with extra ram and larger hard drive.
n_maher
The 2.0 is probably plenty, I'd get as much RAM as you can afford. HD space, eh, what are you going to store on it?

tyrion
I'm going to check them out at the Apple Store tomorrow night and make a decision. If I can get it with black gates, I think that's a no brainer.

strid3r
I'm kind of disappointed that they only dropped the price of the old Macbook by 100 bucks. I would've thought that they would reach the 900 mark.

mirumu
I love the new cases and the easy access to the hard drive bay on the new models. I've upgraded hard drives twice now in my older Macbook Pro and it took a lot more effort than these new ones appear to require. I'm not so keen on the glossy screens although hopefully the higher intensity display will help there. Also while I understand Job's stance on Blu-ray it disappoints me all the same. Looks overall like a decent refresh. Not enough of a jump from what I have to make me want to upgrade personally, but I'm thankful for small mercies.
