crappyjones123 Posted May 10, 2011 Report Posted May 10, 2011 m mount. looking for adapters. found a few cheap ones on ebay but lots of people complained about leakage so trying to figure out a better alternative.
zippy2001 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Here are a few photos from my Washington DC trip. Between myself, wife, daughter and son, I've had over 7,000 photos to sort through
zippy2001 Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Here's a few more interesting shots from Washington DC
Iron_Dreamer Posted May 12, 2011 Report Posted May 12, 2011 Love the space shuttle shot! Y'all be crazy, though, 7000 shots! I don't think I take that many in a year.
zippy2001 Posted May 13, 2011 Report Posted May 13, 2011 Love the space shuttle shot! Y'all be crazy, though, 7000 shots! I don't think I take that many in a year. It's mainly my wife and daughter that go crazy with the photos. I took quite a few, but I'm still learning how to use this camera, so there are quite a few bad photos. And lots of pix of the same thing.
aerius Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Back to film. Makes everything a lot simpler; focus, exposure, click, done.
crappyjones123 Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 (edited) after lunch with a very old friend. nex 5 is cool. Edited May 14, 2011 by crappyjones123
MexicanDragon Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 I told you people don't want people with shorts taking pictures of them... **BRENT**
MexicanDragon Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 So Best Buy has some seemingly good deals on some Canon gear right now. http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/51623/best-buy-canon-eos-rebel-dslr-cameras-5d-mark-ii-21.1mp-2124-t2i-efs-1855mm-f3.55.6-is-672-t3i-18mp-w-efs-18135mm-f3.55.6-is-756-7d-18mp-w-28135mm-f3.55.6-is-1595 Canon EOS Rebel DSLR Cameras: 5D Mark II 21.1MP $2124, T2i EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS $672, T3i 18MP w/ EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS $756, 7D 18MP w/ 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS $1595 + Free Shipping I checked BH Photo, and it's showing "Out Of Stock" and says no availability from the the manufacturer. This mean the Mk3 should be dropping soon, or is there just some promotion going on/low supply due to natural disasters? **BRENT**
Salt Peanuts Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Just low supply is my guess. Most of Canon's more high-end items have gone out out of stock quickly whenever dealers get them back in stock. IIRC, B&H just received some shipments of 5d2 (and other Canon items) sometime last week, meaning they all were bought in less than a week. As for 5d3, I doubt we will see anything until next year, due to the disaster.
Iron_Dreamer Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Here's a few shots from my hike with 909 in the San Jacinto Wilderness, Friday: Looking down over 8,000 feet to the desert floor: David takes a refreshing dunk into an ice-cold stream: We spent some time on the famed Pacific Crest Trail: David found his zen on this trip:
909 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 Great photos Peter! I am looking forward to seeing the many other shots you took of the wonderful and captivating scenery.
Jon L Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 As for 5d3, I doubt we will see anything until next year, due to the disaster. I certainly hope you're wrong about that!! My understanding was Canon made out OK, damages mostly to some of their lens factories..
Salt Peanuts Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 I just think they'll update 1Ds3 before 5D2.
MexicanDragon Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 Some SlickDeals Nikon lens deals... think they might be pretty good, but I'm not the expert here. http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/51639/best-buy-nikon-lens-sale-afs-dx-35mm-f1.8-155-1755mm-f2.8g-edif-afs-dx-1191-85mm-af-f1.4d-if-1224-70300mm-f4.55.6g-edif-afs-vr **BRENT**
Asr Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 ASR - nice shots, show us more. I am away atm, otherwise would arrange to meet you in Sarasota or near by. Would've been cool to see you Gene but my trip itinerary was hectic for the 5 days I was in FL. Could definitely make it out to the next TamJam though. Pics below from the 1st day of the trip. In-camera JPGs (I shot in RAW+JPG) - couldn't be bothered to work from the RAWs yet, too many pics. 2nd pic is the Sunshine Skyway Bridge as it approaches Bradenton. All pics were taken in the vicinity of one of the fishing piers off the bridge.

Aimless1 Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 Nicely done Aerius. Interesting on many different levels.
Knuckledragger Posted May 17, 2011 Author Report Posted May 17, 2011 In late 2009, my 30D and EF 35mm got knocked off a table by some idiot and the impact broke the AF motor. This has for the most part limited me to a 17-40mm (F/4) and two 50mms (F/1.8 and F/1.4) Recently I've been taking my 35mm out and using it as a manual focus lens. Saturday before last, I did lights for the afterparty for the Northampton Pride parade (or as I call it, Shedding Light on the Homosexual Agenda.) Both exposures: 35mm F/2, 1/25th, ISO800. 50mm F/1.8, 1/30th, ISO800. The same week, I also saw the Shpongletron show: 35mm, F/2, 1/50th, ISO800. Both exposures: 35mm F/2, 1/50th, ISO400. 17mm, F/4, 1/20th, ISO800. 17mm, F/4, 1/15th, ISO800. Two unrelated diffraction grating laser shots: 50mm, F/18, 1/25th, ISO800. Manual focus because the AF would not cooperate. 17mm, F/4, 1/10th, ISO800.
Salt Peanuts Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I'd been using the sling strap from OP/TECH and it had been working well for me. Well, at least until I took off the grip from my Canon body since the extra weight was getting bit too much for my left hand/wrist (tendonitis). Without the grip and second point of attachment, the camera hang from the sling strap at an odd angle, constantly bumping off the side of my body (even moving the mode dial on one occasion). So now, I've got a strap that I can't really use unless I put the grip back on (won't be happening). I guess I'll be splurging for a BlackRapid in the near future.
Dreadhead Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 (edited) Panorama from our hotel room at Niagara Falls this past weekend (hence the window reflections visible) Stitched together using Microsoft Live Photo Gallery which did an absolutely outstanding job compared to Photoshop CS2 Photomerge Edited May 17, 2011 by Dreadhead
Salt Peanuts Posted May 17, 2011 Report Posted May 17, 2011 I really like the photos, Knuckles. I especially like the manual focus 35 f/2 shots.
