You mean it's not socially acceptable for me to make it rain on them work bitches on my next company retreat????

I have nothing important to say, I'm no one to scold anyone in here. To my understanding there's something escaping my knowledge in this interaction. The pictures seem OK to me, but if they may be offensive to some members, it costs nothing to protect them with the spoiler or NSFW tags. As far as I remember, Knuckles does that when nudity is blatant. I'd be concerned if the pics were posted without the models knowledge, but I think it's fine if they want to pose like that and give their permission to be publicly exposed. They'll have their reasons and I don't think they are considering themselves like objects or toys for doing so. Nude human bodies may look like beautiful objects, like statues or gorgeous animals, or trees, the line between obscenity and beauty rests in the photographer, the model and the observer too. I don't find those pics obscene, yet nor really a work of art either, but nice to look at.

Oh please. The double standard here is so blatantly obvious it is absurd. The slower forum thread is of full of images of actually naked women and not once has Dan or anyone else, to my knowledge, been asked to use spoiler tags to hide pictures of naked women.  Please don't insult me by saying that that is the appropriate forum for it - if posting pictures like these is demeaning to women, then it is demeaning in all parts of this website. I realize it is easy to pile on to someone when they are already getting dumped on - that takes no courage as the mob provides it and while you are entitled to your opinions, please don't ask me to censor myself to suit your sensibilities. Last I checked it was a free country and I am a legal US citizen. I would understand if I were posting something universally inappropriate like a video of a murder or something but the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is on national tv tonight. Millions of people will be watching. It's time to evolve your thinking to beyond the middle ages.

First, I would be equally upset if there were similar pictures of men posted in this thread.   I am not sure if that is what you meant by double standard.  I very rarely look at the slower forum thread so I don't know what is in there.  I like following this thread to learn about photography and to see what people are doing.  I think it is fine to post the pictures with spoiler tags.  Also realize that people are allowed to criticize ones photos whether it is about how one composed the photo, choice of subjects, etc.  I also find things like the Victoria's Secret Fashion show on tv offensive and would not watch such thing.

If you don't like the content, feel free to not look. If you find my content in particular to be offensive, feel free to ignore my posts, as Al does - I don't mind. Calling essentially anyone who models in lingerie strippers or doing the picture equivalent of soft core porn is not just offensive and a puritanical way of thinking but point blank stupid. I come from one of the most sexually oppressed and backward societies in the world and even I didn't treat my colleagues as though they were strippers. The fact that any normal adult would think that is mind numbing.

I never said they were strippers.  What I said was that it makes no difference to me if they were a stripper or med student/doctor.  I find the pictures slightly offensive and the fact that they are med students/doctors does not mean that it changes the picture.   There is no problem with soft porn, I just don't think it should be posted in this thread.

I have no problem with the human body.  I would not care if a person was walking down the street naked and wouldn't think twice about doing it myself if it didn't bother others.  I just have a problem with the way that the models were posed.   It just feels demeaning to me (even though I understand that the models were perfectly fine with it).

Why not chastise those who enjoyed looking at the images while you are at it? Surely, consumption of soft core porn and looking at strippers is equally bad as being a stripper or creating soft core porn to the prudish mind. I'll wait for your post scolding tall man, John, Ari, and Antonio.

I have no problem with people watching porn, being a stripper (I have been friends with several strippers in my life), etc.

I echo what Antonio said.

I'd add that I think there is a lot of history with CJ that occurred before I became active here. So I'm not privy to that, but it does seem to affect a lot of the perceptions of his posts. Not saying that it shouldn't, only that I don't fully understand all of the angry reactions.

I do appreciate viewing attractive women as art. But also suspect that Anne would roll her eyes if she saw me looking at those, and I would understand why she would. But I don't think she'd be offended. Just rolling her eyes, and saying something like, 'headphones, huh?' 'Oh brother ' She looks at plenty of pics of Brad Pitt and George Clooney and such. And I roll my eyes.

Whatever it was in the past with CJ, I hope that CJ can get what it is that bothers so many here who to me, have pretty darn good judgement. And that those with good judgement would give him a chance to change and acknowledge it when/if he does. People do mature, grow, change over time. I suspect by the reactions, that there hasn't been much to acknowledge at this point?

Oh, and I cant know anything about anyone's motivations from a couple of posts. And I can't read minds. As Anne says, she used to be worried about that, but now that she knows me, she knows there's pretty much an empty humming noise running through my head most of the time. (Not the tinnitus!)

Protect and serve I say. Or something like that.

As for the other pictures, poster aside (who I have no beef with), I think they are pretty good. Boudoir photos are supposed to be sexy with a little kink thrown in here and there.

To be completely blunt, I am not a fan of the crappy school of social interaction but to be completty fair, I have zero issues with his pictures.

Let's be honest, if the person who posted these pictures was more "one of our own" then we'd be singing a different tune. Feel free to flame away but just calling it as I see it......

I'm totally good with CJ posting whatever he wants. If it may need a NSFW/Spoiler tag, so be it, but I don't see an issue with it. Posting in here will get critiques/praise of the shot, and if you go back a few years I'm sure you'll see that CJ's gotten better. Not to mention his troubles with Adorama and his horrible taste in movies moved Adorama up the list for me, and I've bought most of my gear from them the past couple of years, and if CJ gives it a thumbs down, you know it's probably going to be an enjoyable movie.

I'm more offended by all the Nikon in the EXIF data than most anything else in this thread.

obviously, everything about head-case is like that.

There is some truth to your statement, Raffy, and Dan is obviously correct, but let's review the arc of this stupid issue:

-Crappy posted a bunch of lingerie shots he took of his co-workers

-Chris says he doesn't understand why med students would pose for these pics and then let Crappy post them publicly and wonders if Crappy is doing a fundraising calendar

-Crappy unloads on Chris with his typical persecution-complex response raising all kinds of irrelevant straw-man arguments about double standards and such.  Then he defends himself and his models on the basis of information Chris didn't have any chance of knowing instead of just making a rational response to Chris's reasonable comments and inquiry

-I stew about it and eventually crack and post a self-righteous, half-crocked response dumping on Crappy for blowing everything out of proportion and claiming an attack where there really wasn't one, like he has many times

-Crappy responds with a bunch more irrelevant claims but does not address or even acknowledge my main point repeated above

-Shelly expresses her valid feeling that this type of photography is demeaning to women (my wife said the same when I vetted my response) and says that she would prefer not to have them posted in the thread without a spoiler tag

-Crappy once again flies off the handle with claims of double standards (still not sure what two classes of people he refers to) and disdain for Shelly's feelings:  he says he is insulted, that Shelly lacks courage, that she is just part of the mob attacking him (a legal US citizen, no less), that she is prudish, backward, unevolved, offensive, and stupid.  He twists her simple statements on her own feelings about this kind of photography and honest statement that she would feel the same way whether the subjects were med students or strippers into a claim that the models are strippers.  He also assumes that Shelly would chastise or belittle anyone who looked at strippers or porn, but she never said anything like that either.

-Various other people chime in with positive thoughts on the photos and Crappy personally, and some wonder why I'm such an asshole to him on occasion.

Other people here may not see the out of whack and misguided responses by Crappy the same way I do, and that is fine.  I don't actually have a "beef" with him at all.  I think Crappy would acknowledge that I was friendly and supportive of him when we first met and when Gene and I gave him a place to stay for free so he could attend CanJam Florida.  Hell, I put up with his weird math trance and I almost threw Stevieo off the third floor balcony when I tried to steal Crappy's couch.  I just have little patience for Crappy after years of sharing HF and HC space with him, and this whole issue is just another example.  His obnoxious and unwarranted retorts to Chris and Shelly are prime examples of why he annoys me.

Sorry for stirring the pot and keeping this going, but I thought I would explain myself for those who asked.  Now I will attempt to return to live and let live vis a vis Crappy.

I sort of regret making the statement and asking the question. I just wanted him to answer the question that had already been asked (and got a NOT FUNNY "I'm a stalker" answer to) and explained the reason for my curiosity in I think a respectful way.

Technique and posing wise I found the pictures quite good. I now know that I need to be careful checking this thread at work but that's my problem and of course keep posting whatever you want.

One of the reason I stopped posting was there just seemed to be so much drama. Getting angry and going off because of someone's post is just not a good use of my time. Being offended by these pics is everyone's right but restricting what others can post because of it, well that's their problem. It's a photography thread. I see modeling pics from a friend on FB that are not too far from these. I showed Cj's to her and was not offended in the least. So what is offensive to one might be art to someone else. This was not porn or even soft porn. You don't like them, move on. As to Cj's reaction, it's CJ. If it was anyone else, they would have gotten a pass but there is a past to consider. Either way, ignoring it probably accomplishes more than direct action, just my opinion.
