Cankin
Sad news. I always have great respect for photojournalists.
Currawong
The photo was with the 25mm. I have a cheap, s/h Sigma 24mm but it doesn't focus properly always. I haven't grabbed the D800 yet. It might be gone by now. If it is still there and they have a 20mm lens in stock I probably will.
VPI
Looks good Dinny. Took the new fisheye out to test around the office.
shellylh
I like that a lot. Is that a D90? I think Dinny has a D600. Edited June 6, 2013 by shellylh
agile_one
Jeff ... nice wides. EXIF shows 15mm, what lens is that?
The Monkey
Thanks gang, and yup, D600 with the 70-200 that day. I got some other really sweet ones that I'll share. I look forward to doing some more shooting this summer. EDIT: And, nice, Gene. Love wide angle stuff.
VPI
Jeff ... nice wides. EXIF shows 15mm, what lens is that? The Sigma 15 f2.8 fisheye. Supposed to be sharper than the Nikon equivalent. Seems very sharp to me while pixel peeping.
agile_one
Oh, yeah, it's plenty sharp in your examples, Jeff. Dinny was that lil Monkey shot handheld? Excellent job for toting that heavy lens (I'm assuming it was 70-200 2.8, but even if the new f/4, nice work).
The Monkey
Yup, handheld, and that's the 2.8 monster. And, thanks, I tried to use good form. Got on my knee, braced myself and breathed out. Oh, and the VR2 doesn't hurt. : ) I love that lens.
n_maher
Dinny, Get a monopod. During the few times that I shot sports stuff it was invaluable for being super quick to setup/move around while not adding much bulk. It made all sorts of fun shots much more possible not to mention reducing fatigue. Jeff, Super jealous of the fisheye. I've lusted after one for years but seeing how little I use the super-wide that I have the fisheye would probably get even less use. Still, I've always loved the effect. Voltron
Nice shot, Dinny! Love the fisheye pics, Jeff. Whenever you post some it makes me want a new lens. Get a monopod. *waits for TICE joke*
The Monkey
Dan was kind enough to send me a monopod, just haven't used it yet. I'll bring it next time I shoot a game.

MexicanDragon
Couldn't fit the mansion/museum AND my head in the same shot. I think he'd have to get the mythical 6mm Fisheye for that one. **BRENT**
Currawong
I caved. Took everything in to Kitamura and traded for the D800 28-300mm kit. I borrowed the 14-24mm for an extended loan too. Party time, but my 17" MBP shat itself and needs a new logic board. The 14-24mm on the D7000 in Tokyo at the headphone festival. Mike and Tracy of Centrance with Jerry Harvey in the background. I love how the lens is only a little bit distorted at 14mm -- just enough to be entertaining but it is still possible to keep everything straight and sharp. From the balcony at 14mm. Currawong
Decided to have a play with the D800 and 14-24mm on the way back from the Apple Store. I wanted to get an idea how the lens behaves at its extremes and where it works well and where it doesn't. Other than that. I like contrasting facets of old Japan with modern Japan. agile_one
Nice shots, everyone. Jeff, you are a fisheye animal. Jon, tree looks great - hardly any flare at all. Amos, grats on the D800, 14-24 and 28-300 - there's nothing you're not ready for with that combo. You are keeping the 14-24, right?
