Salt Peanuts Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 Verizon buys Yahoo $4.83B, marking end of an era. I guess I should start looking at other photo-hosting service. Quote
Dreadhead Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 You really think they'll kill Flickr? Quote
grawk Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 I hope not, but I'll certainly start downloading all my photos when I get home Quote
Salt Peanuts Posted July 25, 2016 Report Posted July 25, 2016 I don't think they'll kill it it, but I'm not hopeful they'll leave it alone/make it better either since they're supposedly merging Yahoo with AOL. 1 Quote
VPI Posted August 2, 2016 Report Posted August 2, 2016 Do any of you guys have any digital video experience? I need to shoot some footage, and I am trying to decide between using the D750 and figuring that out or buying a fancy video camera, Blackmagic 4K, Sony, Canon Pro kind of thing. Anyone have any experience with the video side of the camera world? 1 Quote

Do what you usually do: buy them all, open 2/3rds, say cameras are dumb, then use your iPhone 7 (it'll be out by then.) **BRENT** 1 Quote

TMoney Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 TIME has a special site up to celebrate the top 100 most influential photographs of all time. http://100photos.time.com I've spent the entire morning reading and watching stuff. Brilliant! Quote

Brilliant! Most influential? It looks more like most newsworthy. Any number of incredibly influential photographers are entirely absent from that list. It reads more like a list of the most well-known photos from major news events of the last ~200ish years. Quote

Iron_Dreamer Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 I guess that depends on what you mean by influence. Influential in terms of people seeing these photos, sure? Influential in terms of these photos shaping photography itself, some yes, some not so much. I think any number of photos/photographers have been more influential on the art form, itself. Quote
grawk Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 influencing the world rather than influencing photographers Quote
TMoney Posted November 19, 2016 Report Posted November 19, 2016 (edited) As with any editorialized list, you can quibble over what should or should not have been on it. The power of many of these images though is undeniable. I'm really glad TIME made the site, even if it is far from a definitive list. I've spent the whole day looking at it.
