morphsci Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 This may be of interest to the photo graphers on HC.
Grahame Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Quote from elsewhere that may be relevant " I had a good photographer attend one of my courses in the pre-digital age. He told us once you get known for producing good portfolios then it was the girls who asked if they could take their clothes off. "
crappyjones123 Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Not sure if serious... I posted it and some black and white conversions to fred Miranda and essentially got torn a new one. I thought it was a reasonably good image until I read the 6 paragraph post telling me everything that was wrong with it.
grawk Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 that's the reason to post on a place like that. If you want to get better, they tell you areas that could be improved. 1
crappyjones123 Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 I know - that's why I even posted it in the Photo Critique section, not the People forum asking what I could do better. Just wasn't expecting so many things. On the other hand I am thankful for the critique once the original stinger wore off. Tells me specifically where the post processing went wrong instead of just hollow likes/dislikes.
Torpedo Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Mind to post a link to read it? I'm interested to learn too

MexicanDragon Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 That wasn't torn a new one at all, CJ. I've gone deeper than that (though in different ways, as I'm not into PP much, and this guy is pretty well versed). Looks like he made some good points. **BRENT**

The Expanding Man Posted December 8, 2014 Report Posted December 8, 2014 EOSE2500HiCont by drjlo1, on Flickr I quite like the two photos you've posted. Care to share the lens & body you used? Anything special about the lighting?
agile_one Posted December 8, 2014 Report Posted December 8, 2014 ^^^ Click the Flickr link. It says, Canon EOS 5D III, Canon 100mm Macro @ 100mm, 1/320 sec, f/4, ISO 2000, no flash. Very nice image, Jon.
Jon L Posted December 9, 2014 Report Posted December 9, 2014 Thanks. That image came about as I was testing my 100L lens due to the focus ring being stuck in manual focus mode at the 0.3 m end all the time, moving only when I really push hard on the focus ring and turn. It's out of warranty, so I guess it's time to donate more of my money to Canon service dept
Voltron Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Mayberry On Shrooms. No, this isn't an invitation for a meet or a group psychedelic experience, it is just some examples of what happens when it rains after many dry months. We're overrun with fungus and working in the yard I was struck by just how many places I noticed mushrooms popping up. Not award-winning photography and no post-production was done other than cropping, just something I found visually interesting. 3
crappyjones123 Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 (edited) The colors are fantastic (very accurate), Al. Are these all straight out of the RX1/RX1R? Edited December 10, 2014 by crappyjones123
Voltron Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Thanks Crappy. RX1r > iPhoto for storage and cropping > Flickr for hosting. That's it.
mikeymad Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Al's new carer. (photos not shrooms)
blessingx Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 (edited) Nice shots Al. I'd keep an eye out for Matango though. Edited December 10, 2014 by blessingx

VPI Posted December 10, 2014 Report Posted December 10, 2014 Nice shots Al. A couple from my RX-1 on a rainy walk last night. 1
