Salt Peanuts Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 Reks, if you need a CF card reader, I still have an old Lexar FW400 reader floating around. Actually, now that I think about it, I probably have two.
padam Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 (edited) Apart from maybe video the D700 is better in almost every way because it is not as 'consumer-oriented'... Edited January 10, 2014 by padam
nikongod Posted January 10, 2014 Report Posted January 10, 2014 (I really have a hard time editing on 20" and old LCDs).......... I hope Ari lets me use this camera for a while, as I won't be buying a new body real real soon, but I think I'm convinced that this is the camera for me. My monitor is at least 10 years old. I edit by feel & histogram. Seriously. You can keep it for a few weeks, at least. Anything I see myself doing for the near future can be done with other stuff. This of course guarantees that the perfectest shot that would only work at ISO3200 will fall into my lap in about a week

Didnt even take a week. Ooh well. Is there is subway near you? Will people be riding with no pants? Go take some pics. Edited January 10, 2014 by nikongod

Jon L Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) Not mine but had to share this one which stopped me in my tracks. Sony A7r + Nikon 14-24mm. Kudos to "Gianmaria Veronese." Looks like a Vulcano! by Gianmaria Veronese, on Flickr Edited January 11, 2014 by Jon L
crappyjones123 Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Someone tried tying up their hammock on the adjacent tree but the gentleman jerked up and yelled, "NO VACANCY!" Everyone in the area started rolling over in laughter but the gentleman himself was too inebriated to join in the fun.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 (edited) I like the first one better. Edited January 19, 2014 by Salt Peanuts
Grand Enigma Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 ^ agreed. The trees add much more visual appeal.
nikongod Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 +1 for the tops of the trees. Whats with the funky halos around the trees? Dont like that.
VPI Posted January 19, 2014 Report Posted January 19, 2014 Looks like way too much PS sharpening to me.
crappyjones123 Posted January 20, 2014 Report Posted January 20, 2014 I was playing around with some free presets I downloaded. Once the filter was applied I couldn't really get rid of the halos. I'll try to emulate the effect without the halos or the extra sharpening.
The Expanding Man Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 OM 55/1.2 What body did you use?
padam Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) What body did you use? NEX-5N Edited January 22, 2014 by padam
The Expanding Man Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 NEX-5N I still run a couple of OM film bodies. I've had my eye on that lens, but baulk a little at the price when the Zuiko 50mm f1.4 is still quite cheap. Have you used the 55 much?
padam Posted January 22, 2014 Report Posted January 22, 2014 I still run a couple of OM film bodies. I've had my eye on that lens, but baulk a little at the price when the Zuiko 50mm f1.4 is still quite cheap. Have you used the 55 much? I used it a few times and I also had the 50/1.2 which sharper but does not have the same bokeh. But I still have quite a few other fast 50s so I'm currently advertising it at the ekv. of 300$ (I do have OM bodies with quite a few other parts like focusing screens, etc. as well which I never used) It is a very nice lens if you care more about character rather than outright sharpness (which should be even more apparent on FF), it is the supposedly better earlier thorium variant so it has a slight yellowish cast wide open. Yes the 50/1.4 is supposed to be very nice as well, although the last & best version is not that easy to find.
Duggeh Posted January 23, 2014 Report Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) OM Zuiko ftw. [/gearporn] Edited January 23, 2014 by Duggeh
