nikongod Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 (edited) If it is as good as the Noct-Nikkor 58/1.2 that they are mentioning then it is competitively priced. But to be honest, that was developed with one purpose in mind: to be sharp and very usable wide open (next to no coma for light sources at night) and nowadays high ISO performance and built-in IS etc. compensates this rather well. High eyeso does nothing for the book-eeh shooters. Yes, I spelled it like that to be annoying. Like people whose entire FLICKR stream was shot at F1.2. I wonder if Nikon (or Canon) knows that they could save a bunch of money by just selling lenses with no aperture adjustment at all? I already don't like the character of the out of focus highlights with this lens. Whycome didnt the bestest lens MFR just make a 58F2.8 DC, with the DC ring locked to eleven? The 58F1.2 does do its thing nicely. Because. Edited October 17, 2013 by nikongod
padam Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Very nice! Is this for real? http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/17/hasselblad-sony-a-7-solar-rebadge/
Salt Peanuts Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 ^ They did the same thing with NEX-7, named it Lunar, and priced it at $6.5K. They even had Buzz Aldrin for its launch event, iirc.
nikongod Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 There are an awful lot of 50 Noctlilux lenses with electrical tape permanently fixing them to .95, so it might be a good idea, actually. There is no other reason to buy that lens... But who in their right mind shoots a landscape at F0.95? A whole 6 blades of grass, and half a flower in focus. It is the Flickr way.
jpelg Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Sony RX10 features 1-inch 20.2MP sensor, 24-200mm constant f/2.8 lens http://feedly.com/k/1er8J4u This seems like a terrific soccer-dad/mom type camera. Perfect for kids sports or other performance events. The sensor has shown decent low-light performance for the size. Coupled with a fast lens allowing for stop-action shutter speeds make it just the ticket. Add on an RX100 for EDC & you (and potentially a partner) have got family events covered at all times for under two G's. Shit, that would cover 99% of us.
Salt Peanuts Posted October 17, 2013 Report Posted October 17, 2013 Canon 6D for $1574 (you need to put in your cart and start the checkout process to get the price). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/892349-REG/Canon_8035b002_EOS_6D_Digital_Camera.html 24-70L II for $1699 ($300 discount at checkout and $300 mail-in rebate). http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/843008-USA/Canon_5175B002_EF_24_70mm_f_2_8L_II.html
VPI Posted October 19, 2013 Report Posted October 19, 2013 Dropped in at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum for a bit this morning.
crappyjones123 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Leaving the library at 4am this morning.
laxx Posted October 21, 2013 Report Posted October 21, 2013 Finally used my camera after a long time on my vacation and felt so outdated with my Canon 40D. I'll post up some pics tonight.
Knuckledragger Posted October 21, 2013 Author Report Posted October 21, 2013 I see VPI has been busy making sun stars.Apparently that price on the 6D at B&H is no long valid? I'm going to be in the market for a new body. Soonish. As soon as I buy a new car.
Salt Peanuts Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 ^ Yeah, the sale price was only valid for a short time.

Cankin Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Nikon is rumored to release a FM2 like DSLR. http://nikonrumors.com/2013/10/20/breaking-new-nikon-full-frame-hybrid-mirrorless-camera-coming-soon.aspx/ 1
crappyjones123 Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 "The effects of biochemistry on the human mind." We had 3 exams today back to back from 8 - 11:30. It's hilarious to see all these girls who were dressed to the nines the first few days of school. And now all of a sudden they can't grab the same pair of shoes. 1
Jon L Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 as somebody who loves his FM2, I think this is super cool. I was kind of hoping it would be mirrorless and therefore smaller, a competitor to Sony A7. But at 765g, it's going to be DSLR type weight. Still, the D4 sensor is cool, and I just hope the price will be decent.

padam Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Unless Nikon is crazy, it should be less than D610. I think with a D4 sensor, they are thinking more along the lines of S3 2000 Millenium...maybe not we'll see soon anyway

Oh, and refurbed D600 have gone below $1400. Edited October 22, 2013 by Salt Peanuts

Oh, and refurbed D600 have gone below $1400. It will be available in silver and black, just like the S3. I guess it is for people who prefer to go back to the basics and with the build quality and finish of old days to match but not priced for the masses (they wouldn't sell that much anyway). The D4 sensor is not necessarily inferior to the D600 one, the high ISO is even better but it could well be a different sensor, just with the same MP. Edited October 22, 2013 by padam
Salt Peanuts Posted October 23, 2013 Report Posted October 23, 2013 Nikon probably figured regular consumers would've been up in arms if D600 had same pixel count as D7000/D5100. I'm not saying 16mp isn't enough (or less for that matter) just guessing on Nikon's thought process.
Cankin Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 Teaser for upcoming Nikon FF. It sounds like there is shutter speed dial and aperture control, and a new 50mm 1.8 http://youtu.be/2CDWV6o1o4A also, sample of Zeiss Otus 55mm 1.4 samples with D800 http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlzeisslenses/sets/72157635236491881/
laxx Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 I walked in to Adorama earlier to check out the Canon 24-70 on 70D and 6D... walked out with poor life decisions. =T 1
en480c4 Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 A forum my wife frequents has a thread for favorite out-of-focus shots. This is one of mine... Focus grabbed the top of the head, and despite that, I think its great. The eyes are in focus just enough. Penelope just shy of 8 weeks. 1
morphsci Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 That is an absolutely beautiful photograph of a beautiful little girl!
