I'm still having trouble being fast enough to focus and take a shot before the moment is over. I'm still pretty new so any criticisms are welcome.

Now that I have use of both hands again, I've gone back to the infrared spectrum:

My IR PowerShot G2 can shoot RAW, but it can't do RAW and jpeg at the same time. As an experiment, I went out and fired off a couple dozen exposures in RAW mode and then converted them in Photoshop. The end results are not earth-shatteringly different, but the process was interesting.

Yep, that's University Drive. I was standing by the CVS building looking (mostly) toward UMASS.

Ah, I know the spot. I must say I don't ever remember University Drive looking so pretty, but I didn't frequent the town/school in middle of the summer.

Had I known about the FAIL that is the new interface (not that I could have, seeing as I've yet to perfect the ability to see into the future), I wouldn't have gotten a paid account. While I still like the community aspects of Flickr, I'm considering moving to another hosting site once my paid account expires. I just don't know to what.

Will anyone be partaking in the 60D-fest? I'm debating between the 50D, 60D, or T2i. I need to replace my aging XTi body because it's near unusable above 400 iso. The xxD series is great for the build quality and wheel but I fell in love with that T2i screen. Does the 50D have the same screen as the T2i?

In addition, there's rumors flying around that the 50mm 1.4 will be updated or a new 35mm 1.8 will be released at photokina. If this proves to be true, I'll probably pick that up as well to replace my current 50mm 1.8 and 35mm 2.0. In addition, I really need a decent walkaround zoom instead of kit lens. I'm thinking Tamron or Sigma. I mostly take landscapes shots and wide angle stuff so I definitely don't even need up to 150mm.

I'll be happy to take any suggestions or comments.

Have they finally confirmed the 60D? There have been a lot of rumors of it for a while, but they've all been just that - rumors. I personally don't know how they'd place 60D price and spec-wise without cutting into sales of 7D (unless, of course, they're updating 7D as well).

As for LCD screen on 50D, it's same size as T2i, but T2i has bit more resolution (920,000 vs. 1,040,000). I personally couldn't comfortably use the Rebel-line bodies when I tried them out - too small for my hands and not having the second control wheel was annoying.

They haven't confirmed it but there was a leak of a product sheet from some retailer so who knows. They said they'd release at least one body and I think people are convinced that it's either the 60D or 1Ds MkIV.

The T2i not having a second wheel is a big issue. So's the build quality. But, I'd get a battery grip with any DSLR anyway so I'm not concerned about the size.

VPI, the saturation on the yellow and pink flowers is just incredible. This is another reason I really need to replace the XTi.

Just out of curiosity, with which eye do everyone shoot? I'm a righty, but I shoot with my left eye, which can annoying for various reasons. I tried to switch to shooting with my right eye for couple of days, but gave up as I kept missing the viewfinder.

It probably has more to do with whether you are right or left eye dominant. Your ocular dominance and handedness don't necessarily match. Your eye doctor can test this but most likely you can just guess. I am right handed but left eye dominant and I shoot with my left eye. I have been told that one can work on changing your ocular dominance but takes a lot of work.

Exactly the same experience here. When I went to qualify before my deployment, I couldn't aim at all with my right eye and had to shoot with my left. Everyone was giving me a hard time though, as I got to shoot twice as much as they did since I failed the first time around.

It's easy to determine your dominant eye using parallax. With both eyes open, hold your finger about 18" from your face and point at something. Next close one eye. If your finger is still pointing at the object, the open eye is the dominant eye. If your finger is pointing to one side of the object, the closed eye is the dominant eye. You can then rerun the test closing the other eye to verify the results.
