I know Nate is already up for Head-Caser of the Year, and quite rightly in my book, but is it too early to place a vote for Post of the Year 2009?

This nonsense about moderator conspiracies and Jude being the protector of RSA is utter bullshit. I didn't need to know any more about Asr's self-important cause for leaving Head-Fi but if it was for the reasons stated a couple pages above then it is even more ridiculous than I had thought. Get over yourself is right.

Probably because he has the polarity switched on one of his cat5 wires.

I find the need of people who need to announce how little they care rather disingenuous. If you really didn't care, you'd just stop posting, much less reading.

You guys are looking at things rather unscientifically -- just because you can't imagine the motivation (or assign a low likelihood to any you can imagine), you assume it isn't so. ASR is basing his conclusion on evidence he observed, nothing more -- so on that alone, he's up on you guys in my book. I've heard enough hearsay of similar observations by others that I allow for the possibility, even though I have to admit to being curious as to the cause-effect relationship.

his assumption for me was not very scientific...i didn't really see conspiratory relationship between the mods and RSA from the information ASR posted nor from any of the threads i've read on HF.

i think he has the burden to provide it...if he didn't want people to comment, then he could've just sent a pm to the questioner, but he posted it publicly and if ur going to post openly, then i think it's subject to scrutiny by whoever reads it.

hence, i thought ASR's post tended to be extreme and somewhat offensive and not very well supported...

I'd like a little bit of extra credit since I created that bunny lolcat just for Mike. ;D It occurred to me after reading his post that he could use a laugh.

Apparently now I'm disingenuous per Dusty so I guess I could use a laugh.:palm:

You're a nominee for HC'er of the Year. I'd say you got your extra credit. ;)

Well, I have some factual evidence, and the emails explaining it. JMT, as in JMT audio (and, yes, a nice, stand-up guy, and all that) deleted three of my FS posts of DIYamps (what, an amp maker deleting amp FS posts?) all at one time. No fucking email, no nothing until I raised hell with him, Jude, et al.

The total hypocricy of an amp builder deleting FS posts, for selling builds AT THE COST OF THE PARTS (probably less due to shipping, etc) smacked of nothing more than that. At the time, there was NO policy of any kind regarding DIY amp sales, and even more ludicrous, was the shakedown for me to become a MOT (wrong for so many reasons).

Oh, the humanity - I actually stated I was selling the amps to buy a Raptor. Thank you Jesus, I was saved. Enough folks had already seen the posts that they sold anyway (a Millett Hybrid, and two m

ok so three and a half years ago your FS threads were deleted and the MOD in question stated they would take it up with the entire MOD team for feedback I'm not sure where I see the men in black here.

There are DIY amps for sale pretty regularly on HF proving they are not stated clones of commercial amps.

Was this a mistake probably was it a conspiricy probably not.

Dan here's to hoping that you get your amp and it is what you expected. I hate to say it but at this point you should be keeping all options open and start to begin to exercise them like a complaint to the Colorado Better Business Bureau for starters. I like the guy in person but this theory that he can add additional shit to a repair job and them expect the customer to pay the bill when it was never approved is insane.

I've always wondered what benefit comes from complaining to the BBB. Can they make Mikhail act to fulfill the customer's wishes, or is it just a repository of complaints that most people never see? What are the chances the business would simply get irritated enough to invoke retribution by further delaying delivery of the customer's order or service? That would always be my fear. I definitely agree that no work should be done to a customer's amp without prior approval and firm estimate of the work.

I think there are ongoing, though more subtle, attempts to 'balance' what is being sold to help amp makers, even those who do not directly support head-fi - mainlky because they help generate chatter, and draw more members. It is a symbiotic viral relationship.

There is also a VERY uneasy relationship with the DIY community as a whole (evidenced by the hardline crackdown on TomB last year), so there is still smoke even if you can't see the flames. The heat is there.

Yes, maybe my case helped define this - point was, posts are deleted, and notifications not sent, and no 'policy' defined.

You have your opinion and I mine. To say there is NO, none, nada proof is, IMHO, ludicrous. It seems this is all how it is perceived.

But, I hold to not selling on Head-fi - enough people write me to ask to buy that I don't have to. Not that I am selling anything anyway, since I don't need to.

Oops, maybe this shold be in the Casino - as if I give a fuck.

Quoted for truth.

(Though it is pretty hypocritical of me to say so...... I've taken a lot more from the DIY community than I could ever possibly give back. But I am trying.)

Oh, and the pathetic, weak and insecure sonovabitch who complained about, and thus forced me to get rid of, my Buddy Jesus avatar.

That's too bad, I always liked the Avatar.

I did too, but it was ridiculous of Beefy to expect to keep it on a site that is dedicated to not talking about religion. I had to take down my Reagan avatar. Presumably McCoy can stay for now.

Mine is me holding a gun to my turkey hat. I guess they are cool with turkey genocide. Bastards.

Maybe we CO peeps could team up and all go pay a visit to Mikhail and take inventory of what amps he is working on and help him prioritize his goals and timeline? Then followup to see if he is sticking to it. It would be like an intervention. Someone would have to distract his wife though. I nominate Sherwood.

Anyway got a call from Mikhail ~8:45 pm pst. He told me that he will straighten things out with accounts payable (Something he said he'd do today, but whatever). He promised that it'll go out. He asked for 1000 on receipt of tracking #s and 250 the next month. We compromised at 750 on receipt of tracking #'s and 500 the following month. I told him I can't pay him until I get some legit seeming tracking #s (Fedex confirms that they have items in their possession). He was a little bit huffed when I was firm about legit seeming tracking #s. He talked about how this is a new policy with 2009 regarding getting paid prior to delivery since his business has been burned so many times and I immediately threw back well how many times has his customers been burned.. how many times have I been burned and that I am very unwilling to put another dollar in his hand without an amp in mine etc etc etc. He understood though he sounded a bit hurt, but whatever.

Anyway long story short he said he would ship this week.. Fri/Sat to be safe. That I would be completely satisfied with what I get and that he would be sending me replacement headband bits as well to satisfy me on that front as well. I've heard this all before, but here's to hoping he comes through and doesn't pull a Tom Hankins on me.

If that is what is necessary, then so be it.

The time for being concerned with personal feelings has long passed.
