Dusty Chalk Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I'm with Nate -- they killed it with the time slot, and I'll have to admit to not being as in tune with it this season as with last. Here's to hoping the rest of the season makes it to DVD/Blu-Ray, at least.

Some of what I'm reading is that FOX still plans to air all 13 from this season since they're pretty much done taping up to Ep11.
kevin gilmore Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Maybe Summer Glau's performance might change things. Maybe not.
grawk Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I was surprised it made it got renewed for this season. Mostly it seems like shows I like get cancelled.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Maybe Summer Glau's performance might change things. Maybe not.Not likely -- 11 episodes already in the can, executives basing their decisions on that as well as trend extrapolated from extant numbers. It doesn't even have the following that Firefly did.
Pars Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 That sucks, but I had heard it was in trouble ratings-wise. Doesn't help to leave it in that time slot, now with a couple of lame-ass shows prefacing it, unlike last year with Terminator leading off. I don't think I ever watched Firefly, but noticed someone posted a link to BestBuy having the series DVD set for ungodly cheap... might just buy it.
elnero Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Firefly was a great show, I just recently watched it again with my wife who'd never seen it. On a side note, anyone else catch the Halloween episode of Castle where the intro has Nathan Fillion dressing up as his character on Firefly? That show is surprisingly good.
grawk Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 firefly was a terrible show. dollhouse, on the other hand, is sometimes very good.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 (edited) Firefly was a great show, I just recently watched it again with my wife who'd never seen it. On a side note, anyone else catch the Halloween episode of Castle where the intro has Nathan Fillion dressing up as his character on Firefly? That show is surprisingly good.I did, I could definitely watch that show. Very smartly written. Shoutouts to two previous Whedon shows, an indie band, the Harry Potter, Saw, and Underworld franchises, all in like the first three minutes. Plus, Nathan Fillion being terribly charismatic. Oh, and Firefly fucking rocked. Edited November 12, 2009 by Dusty Chalk
laxx Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Firefly was awesome. I thought Dollhouse was pretty bad, and I'm not surprised it got canned. I still watched it in hopes of it picking up, but it never did.
jpelg Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I think that people had a difficult time seeing any redeeming qualities in the characters. The writers did demonstrate some consequences, but I think that the underlying idea of basically an expensive whorehouse is difficult to reconcile for most viewers, especially without the reasonable expectation of a money shot.
grawk Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I've thought this season was way better than last.
n_maher Posted November 12, 2009 Author Report Posted November 12, 2009 The last ep before they pulled it was great.
grawk Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 i thinkk they're still gonna show the ones in the can. fox.com says it's coming back 12/4
laxx Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I agree, it got better, but it still wasn't a good show.
grawk Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 dollhouse does what good sf is supposed to do. explore the idea of whether or not we should do something just because technology allows it.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 Just got around to watching s2e4 -- fantastic. They weren't kidding when they said they were going to take it to a darker place.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Hulu - Dollhouse: Trailer: the Public Eye@@AMEPARAM@@http://www.hulu.com/embed/ktcm3t5dSQd6wbSlppPuag@@AMEPARAM@@ktcm3t5dSQd6wbSlppPuag Summer Glau...special "2 hour event"...can't wait.
tyrion Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I guess I may have to give it another chance.
emelius Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 the episode that my sister wrote is airing tonight!... it's the 2nd in the twofer...feedback welcome:)...
Dusty Chalk Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 Which one, episode 8? I'll probably watch it in the morning on hulu. I should also point out that Summer Glau's character seemed to have some tube gear in that episode...and was that a turntable? I think the tube gear was Conrad-Johnson.
emelius Posted December 11, 2009 Report Posted December 11, 2009 yes, episode 8, “A Love Supreme”...i'll see what i can find out about the gear, but it may be too late for her to ask anyone...
