riceboy Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 I agree with Stephen that it won't pull you in on the first episode, but I am interested in where Whedon will take us. I'm going to keep on watching it to see how the show develops.
en480c4 Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 Don't forget FOX did more than a little tinkering with the pilot. Hercules over @ AintItCoolNews said it improves in subsequent episodes.
en480c4 Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 Well, I enjoyed the debut quite a bit. Never a huge fan of Ms. Dushku, so I was a little disappointed when I found out she was the lead. But she was pretty good, and there are a ton of possibilities. I can see how a show like this could have legs. And yes, Amy Acker was pure win.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 I disagree with all of you, I think the balance between introducing all the characters and how they fit in, and having a story of its own that is interesting enough to pull you in right off the bat was perfect. Yes, I just finished watching it on hulu -- hooray for hulu.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I liked the first episode as well and I think it's got a lot of potential to be a really enjoyable show. Let's just hope that it doesn't pull a Firefly, or more precisely, Fox doesn't pull a Firefly on the show.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Yeah, let's just hope they don't "pull", period.
penger Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Interesting... she's the girl from Bring it On.
diebenkorn Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 I couldn't get past doucheku and having the same problem with fringe (which I like), the woman in that is awful and ruins the whole show for me.
n_maher Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 having the same problem with fringe (which I like), the woman in that is awful and ruins the whole show for me. Wut? i liked the second episode of dollhouse. Me too.
riceboy Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Wut? Me too. Me three. It helped put some background in the story. Also the lawyer from BSG was on too. Can't wait to watch next week
diebenkorn Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 I love the lead in fringe Why(earnestly)?
grawk Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Because she's not a cookie cutter lollypop head, she's unusual, interesting, and capable.
riceboy Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 he was in firefly, as well. Oh. I didn't know that. I like him as the lawyer in BSG.
n_maher Posted February 23, 2009 Author Report Posted February 23, 2009 Because she's not a cookie cutter lollypop head, she's unusual, interesting, and capable. That sums up my thoughts as well. She is not what you would expect.
diebenkorn Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Been watching more episodes on Hulu and am getting used to her. Amazing how different I find her from you guys I find her boring, cardboard, acting is painful, capable I can see that and unusual yes. As an understated female lead it is certainly an interesting twist on the usual female lead. Though now that I think about almost every female lead role I see is pretty awful (except for Scully and I am sure there are others) so I can see your reasoning.
tkam Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 The 2nd ep of Dollhouse was significantly better than the premier which I didn't really like at all.
tkam Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 he was in firefly, as well. He's also been in a few episodes of Leverage.
laxx Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 The 2nd ep of Dollhouse was significantly better than the premier which I didn't really like at all. I wouldn't say I disliked the premiere. I wanted to know more about the story, but it didn't excite me to want to see the second episode badly. The second episode on the other hand was very good. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
tkam Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Yeah I think what bugged me about the premiere was the total lack of backstory/history.
laxx Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Does Eliza have a lazy eye? Does she have Shannon Doherty syndrome? lol
elnero Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Been watching more episodes on Hulu and am getting used to her. I'm with you, I just didn't like her much. She almost always has this concerned, creased forehead look that just annoys me. I gave up on the show after about 5 or 6 episodes though.
acidbasement Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 The fact that I cannot watch this show is killing me slowly. I have no TV reception at home, I refuse to buy a satellite dish (this is the only show I want to be able to watch, so what's the point?), and I'm on dialup internets, so no downloady. Waaaahmbulance please?
grawk Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Wow, that really is whining. You have no tv, and don't want to pay it, and have no internet, and don't want to pay for it. Therefore, you get no tv.
acidbasement Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 No, I want very much to pay for internet, but I live in a relatively remote location that is only serviced by dialup, which I do pay for out of desperation. I won't buy satellite TV because a) I'm poor as well as too damn cheap, and if I did I would spend too much time watching bad TV and not enough time whining on the internet.
