blessingx
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 now official: 12.1MP, Full HD movie mode -- Engadget No price yet.
shellylh
Do I even need to say "WANT?" Still seems to be a fair amount large in depth than the LX5 even with pancake lens though. http://www.dpreview.com/previews/panasonicdmcgf2/ Edited November 4, 2010 by shellylh
Salt Peanuts
^ I wonder how far the price of GF-1 will drop now. Considering how often I shoot with just 35mm, I wouldn't mind a cheap GF1 w/ 20mm f/1.7.
VPI
Looking at that video of the LX5 and the statement that the GF2 is 20% smaller than the GF1 I was thinking they might be fairly close in size. The LX5 looks kind of big in that guys hands.
VPI
Found this. Looks like the critics are a bit disappointed that it is becoming less enthusiast-based and more general consumer based.
shellylh
I think they are pretty close in size except for depth (as you can see in the picture). I am estimating that the GF2 will be around 2.3" deep with the pancake lens where the LX5 is less than 2" deep.
blessingx
Damn, missed the pancake lens change. Finding both the body and old lens on sale anywhere near the old package deal might be difficult. So the LX5 has a faster lens now (though obviously sensor size differences play a part in light/speed).
Salt Peanuts
14mm pancake really seems like an odd option.
Dusty Chalk
Maybe it's just not-so-subliminal suggestion through repetition, but now I want French toast. Or Belgian waffles. Or something like that.
shellylh
I hadn't noticed the change in lens either. Based on these pictures, it seems that the GF1 is going to be very close in size to the LX5 (even in depth). Asr
From the front page of Head-Fi, a new release on HDTracks plus a discount code: When one of my favorite albums gets masterfully remastered, I'm all smiles. Make that remaster available in high-res 24/96, and I'm over the moon! Just made available, Paul McCartney's remastered Band On The Run with bonus tracks, and in two versions--one with compression, one without--can be found at HDTracks.com. The sound? Superb. This Band On The Run remaster is a must-have. UPDATE, November 5, 2010 17:29 EDT: I just had a phone conversation with David Chesky, and was able to squeeze a generous discount code out of him! The code is headfi15, and it's valid until November 19, 2010 for a one-time discount of 15% off of an entire order (not just Band On The Run). Thanks, David! crappyjones123
I don't know anything about cameras. Neither does mum. Which one would be good for her? She mostly takes pictures indoors. Roughly $400 or below. Don't have to spend it all.
