Turns out the damage was a bit more severe than a bad cable. They could still be repaired for less than the cost of a new pair, but not enough less that it seemed worth it. So new Etys are on the way.

That is a go od price. My wife has that model and she had a lot of trouble with it. She finally returned it out of warranty and they sent her a replacement. Other than the need to do a soft reset on occasion has worked well.

Just noticed NHT speakers has an 18% off sale, that ends after the 20th. All items, limit 4 of any item. "NHT365" entered at checkout.

I suppose they are still a 'good' company? I've been debating getting some NHT home theater going. Stuff seems decent enough.

This is a very specific "deal" but it's worth noting nonetheless. I have previously mentioned how much I like the first Young American Primitive album. The CD itself is quite rare and will never be repressed because of sample clearance issues. Copies change hands for well over a hundred dollars. Back in 2001, I let a copy slip through my hands for $40, and I'm still kicking myself for it. Well.. This outfit apparently has a pile of NOS copies: Young American Primitive by Young American Primitive - eBay (item 250633619515 end time Jun-14-10 12:58:21 PDT) They sold through a lot of 10 at $30 each and now they're working through another 10. Several people I know on Discogs ordered from the first lot and said that the service was slow, but the CD did evenetually arrive.

I just bought my copy, so there's 5 left. :)

One thing I ahve to say, the UE vi cables blow hard.

Care to elaborate? I have been wondering about modifying one of those cables for other duty, is there some reason I would be unhappy doing so?

I haven't had a problem with the cable on my superfi 5.vi, and was considering having colin reterminate a 10vi cable for my jh13s :)
