Hopstretch Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 If they could make a t-shirt out of that image (including the shimmering water), then I would buy 100 of them. Dinny, Monarch of the Glen!
Augsburger Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) The ESS speakers are worth maybe a grand in excellent condition, but the SAE crap was dirt cheap when new, and for good reason. The ESS speakers can be found all over from $450-$650, but they need a better woofer and crossover to sound decent enough. And your right about the SAE stuff, if one spent enough time going to garage sales and Agon the whole set could be picked up for less than $5K. Then again, there is probably some dum ass out there stupid enough to believe that guys BS. Edited September 22, 2009 by Augsburger

Aura Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 ChronoShark | The Watch Deal a Day Site Any opinions on the brand? The price is right and I find the aesthetics very appealing.
Sherwood Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I wore a Skagen daily for a few years. Held up admirably. If it means anything, I just bought one of these
Beefy Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Not that I specifically wanted to buy this particular watch...... but in this day and age, why the hell don't they ship outside the US? Not even to freaking Canada?
falkon Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Skagen are well made watches. However, IMO, you have to have a certain look do pull them off (similar to nomos tangente).

You think I have that look? I'll consider it further through my 10AM class, then order afterwards . Thx for the comments fellas.
raif Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I am actually a huge fan of skagen watches. They are the only company I have found that makes metallic band watches that are thin enough to wear while programming, but still look classy enough that they can be worn with nicer clothes. Mine has held up admirably for a few years now, and seems to keep accurate time.
boomana Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 Aura, I have no opinions on watches in general, but I like the way that one looks.

However, IMO, you have to have a certain look do pull them off (similar to nomos tangente).I think I may agree, but we live in a weird time when this watch needs a special look and the other 83% with more complex (and functionality often unused) triple dial designs don't. Either it's the Schwarzenegger Effect or cell phone clocks really have pushed watches primary function over to jewelry. Anyway, I'm in for one as it's got Vickis stamp of approval.
guzziguy Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 ChronoShark | The Watch Deal a Day Site Any opinions on the brand? The price is right and I find the aesthetics very appealing. You like it and it's cheap (price-wise). What's the problem? Who cares what anybody else thinks about the brand or the watch? It's better to go with your gut feelings rather than others' gut feelings.
Dusty Chalk Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Posted September 23, 2009 Skagen is on my list, and I got one or two for my housemate as presents, and she loves them. I've been told several times that I have good taste in watches by her friends.

We obviously have some knowledgeable members.
screaming oranges Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I ordered one very early this morning. Not for me, though, gift for dad. I have too many watches already. Five, to be exact. NOTE: IF YOU USE COUPON CODE "SAVE2" DURING CHECKOUT (without quotes, of course) YOU SAVE $2.00.
