Unisound AU265 speakers. These are a factory buyout which seem to be very well built for the price, thick MDF cabinets with significant internal bracing weighing about 60lbs each and pretty decent drivers, but a fairly crappy xover. Fortunately, it has attracted the attention of the DIY crowd, most notably John Krutke, and the xover has been redesigned with some fairly simple mods which make it much, much more attractive. $150 shipped to your door (MSRP was about $1250 I believe).

Thanks for the post colin, I was skimming over John's mods to the crossover and missed the link where he got them from. Definitely picking up a set for the HT at that price shipped! Just not sure what color I want :P

I went for the cherry. Part of this is preference, and part of this is because it seems the oak has a bit different xover and a few other minor differences than the ones John modded.

Well the choice was made for me because only cherry was available; good thing that it's got the same xover as the one John checked out! For the weight I'm amazed it's free shipping.

Which mod path are you going to take? I'm going to try the version one with the cap/resistor swap, plug the top vent, and add some damping.

surprising how much difference plugging a single port makes; old t-shirt mod time?

Nikon D90 12MP Digital SLR Camera $1,347 - dealmac.com

tempting...

I just got this exact setup from amazon for $1289.94 (instant $250 off when you buy both the D90 body and the 18-200 VR lens). I thought the amazon deal was supposed to last until Jan 2 but they don't seem to have it on the website anymore.

As for the camera and lens, I just got mine in the mail yesterday and have been shooting away. It is great!

With 2 day shipping it comes to $1364.00. Still not a bad deal since the combo would be around $1100 used.

MacHeist nanoBundle 2 for $20

These MacHeist bundles are sets of (actually desirable) third-party Mac software at crazy-low prices for a limited time. Basically it's a way for indie software developers to get wider exposure for their stuff without eroding their paying customer base too much.

I haven't tried any of the packages in the current bundle before but I bought the bundle. RipIt, the DVD-ripping product, has been on my "yeah, I'll probably buy that one day" list for a while, and the MacHeist bundle costs what RipIt alone would have.
