Caution Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 oh wow they look nice, but they still didn't get rid of the bumps on the headband, and they probably didn't change the way the cable is connected to the right driver. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted June 20, 2008 Report Posted June 20, 2008 ...they probably didn't change the way the cable is connected to the right driver.Did you miss that whole discussion on page 1? Quote

Frihed89 Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Hopefully, they will be flatter than the K-701s, otherwise there is no reasons to get them. The K-701s are superb for monitoring, but the Mini-XLR let's you switch cables. Quote
Fitz Posted June 22, 2008 Report Posted June 22, 2008 Did you miss that whole discussion on page 1? Well who can be bothered to read the whole first page of the thread? Quote

Guest troymadison Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 So this is like the HD600 (K702) from the HD580 (K701) in a way. Quote
Smeggy Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 So this is like the HD600 (K702) from the HD580 (K701) in a way. Yah, pretty much by the sound of it. Quote
Nenso Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Yah, pretty much by the sound of it. So K701>K702 in price : performance ratio? Quote
JBLoudG20 Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 So K701>K702 in price : performance ratio? We don't know yet, since it hasn't been released. Street prices of the new headphone remain to be seen. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 So this is like the HD600 (K702) from the HD580 (K701) in a way.Actually, it sounds more like the DT880 Pro to the DT880 Home version. Quote
boomana Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 I liked the 701s a lot, but only out of a couple pretty intense rigs. I can't see investing in this headphone at all unless planning on spending mucho to build a system around them, but if that were an option, I'd rather build a system around so many other headphones first. Guest troymadison Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Does this new pair have the K701 bumps on the headband? Main reason why I sold my K701s.. Quote
ecclesand Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Does this new pair have the K701 bumps on the headband? Main reason why I sold my K701s.. Based on the pics, it looks like the bumps are still there. Quote
Guest troymadison Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 Based on the pics, it looks like the bumps are still there. I'll pass then. Quote
ecclesand Posted June 23, 2008 Report Posted June 23, 2008 TTVJ already has them on their site for $449 with a note to call for special introductory pricing. In the pic on the TTVJ site, you can really see the bumps on the headband in the reflection. Quote
Smeggy Posted June 24, 2008 Report Posted June 24, 2008 I wonder who thought those bumps were a good idea. While they may help ventilation they certainly don't help comfort. That was the first thing I noticed when I put the 701 on my noggin. Next thing I noticed was that they sounded a bit blah. Ok but nothing I'd spend hundreds of bucks on. Quote
fierce_freak Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 When I owned a pair of K701 I never even noticed there were bumps. I think I must have an iron head, though, as I've never really found any pair of headphones too uncomfortable. Quote
Dusty Chalk Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Yeah, me neither (on the bumps, not about not finding any pair uncomfortable). And then I looked at the pic and wondered how could I have missed that. I wonder if it's psychological -- people look at those bumps and think, "boy, those are going to be uncomfortable", and therefore, they become so. Quote
fierce_freak Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Well, I had a pair of SR-003 that bothered me initially until I got used to them, and IEM's hurt if I haven't used them in quite a while...otherwise, no problems. I thought the K701 was super comfortable, but I found them on the bass-shy side and something in their sound fatigued my ears. Quote
Cankin Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 It's not heavy but I won't consider it as light, the bump under the headband of K701 hurted my head so much. Bass light? It has more bass than K501 Quote
Fitz Posted June 26, 2008 Report Posted June 26, 2008 snapping one's fingers produces more bass than the K501. Quote
