tkam Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Mozilla released the final version of Firefox 3 today. You can grab it from our download section here
riceboy Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Thanks Tkam. hehe, I finally was able to download it and 10 minutes later you had your link up . Thanks again
tkam Posted June 17, 2008 Author Report Posted June 17, 2008 Any new or interesting changes? Compared to beta5 or the release candidates? None that I can see.
deepak Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 I just installed it. Already liking the new default theme and the more detailed address bar.
riceboy Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Compared to beta5 or the release candidates? None that I can see. Same here as Todd mentioned about Firefox in beta 5 or the RC it looks the same. But I read that there was quite a bit of fixes, including more tweaking on memory utilization. Like Jpak mentioned as well I do like the new interface as well.
saint.panda Posted June 17, 2008 Report Posted June 17, 2008 Firefox 3 for Mac is really nice looking, quite a few cosmetic changes for the better. I'll give it a try over the next few days but I think I might still prefer Camino, mainly because of keychain integration and a few other things. Firefox 3's smooth scrolling also doesn't reach Safari level yet.
The Monkey Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I have abandoned Safarti for Firefox 3, and I was not a fan of Firefox 2. Firefox 3 is very good.

grawk Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) i switched back with early alpha , I like where they've gone. Edited June 18, 2008 by grawk
riceboy Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 i switched bck with early alpha , I like where they've gone Same here Grawk. When Firefox came on the scene and they started to get the browser market share, it made Microsoft actually work on the aging IE6. Now we are here and IE7 eats more memory than Firefox 3 and they are working on IE8. IMHO, it's great when a company makes the big guys better their product
n_maher Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Alright, fine, fine, you bunch of fanboys, I'll download it today.
JBLoudG20 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Still running the Beta 5 until RedHat decides to update its repos.
aardvark baguette Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 whoa, the times they are a changin'. Glad to see all my add-ons are still working Not sure I dig the gigantic back button. Very function > form. I'll probably love it in a week though.

Very function > form. I'll probably love it in a week though. I just noticed when I drag an image in Flickr to the URL window, it drags a semi transparent copy with the mouse arrow Too bad you can't figure out how to use the non-double post plugin
n_maher Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Not sure I dig the gigantic back button. I think in the world of ultra-high resolution displays that a little extra size on a commonly used button probably isn't a bad thing. I don't find it intrusive, just obvious. Anyone know if this most recent version supports anything like gestures?
aardvark baguette Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Yeah, I can definitely see why the did it. I'm already getting used to it
aardvark baguette Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Too bad you can't figure out how to use the non-double post plugin I posted twice?
JBLoudG20 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 I posted twice? Its gone now. There was two posts
n_maher Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Its gone now. There was two posts Is it any wonder, given the exceptional moderation team around here?
JBLoudG20 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Is it any wonder, given the exceptional moderation team around here? But you stole my funny. :'(
n_maher Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 But you stole my funny. :'( Naw, J still funny.
JBLoudG20 Posted June 18, 2008 Report Posted June 18, 2008 Naw, J still funny. Now the funny is on me!
tkam Posted June 18, 2008 Author Report Posted June 18, 2008 Opera 9.5 final is worth checking out as well, I like the interface changes and it's faster than the 9.5 beta that had been out for awhile.
