SunByrne
Hmm. I've avoided buying or even hearing this because I liked Underdow and I really liked AEnima and was utterly disappointed with Lateralus. When I buy a metal album, I want it to rock, not be a ponderous pseudo-tribute to bands like Yes (who I also happen to like, sometimes). So, what is this new one? Is it more of the ponderous, nearly hook-less exploration of Lateralus, or the tighter more hook-driven metal of Undertow or AEnima? There seems to be an inconsistency of opinion on this... ojnihs
i think it's definitely in the Lateralus camp. agreed, definitely in the Lateralus camp.
Thaddy
I find that parts of the album remind me of Lateralus (Wings 1 and 2, Intension a bit), while other parts remind me of Undertow and ?nima. It's certainly a different flavor, and I don't think it's better or worse than Lateralus, just a side-step.
