tkam Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 (edited) Welcome to the new migrated forums everyone. There's a few new features and a few things are a work in progress. Let me get to the work in progress things first, user profiles didn't migrate everything over correctly so make sure to check your profiles and make sure they are ok. Also you'll notice on imported posts that embedded media (think youtube links, etc) aren't embedded. I will probably edit and fix them as I see them but don't expect them to all get fixed any time soon. On to the new features, we now have a fully integrated chat room feature. It will automatically log you in via your forum login info. There's also an improved downloads section which I'll be adding more stuff too shortly. There is an embedded media function here still, though it functions a bit differently. Still works the same way for posting though, just post the link with no bbcode and it will get parsed/displayed automatically. I will be adding a new front page shortly it will be similar to the old portal system with one key difference, it's only going to be a front page none of the side bars will be in place on the forum pages. Oh yeah I still need to re-add the HC logo too . If anyone is having problems with the password reset function, please send your username and desired password to: [email protected] and I'll take care of it. Edited June 13, 2008 by tkam
JBLoudG20 Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Todd, Could you please implement a 'view new post' feature, or is it already here? I hate having to scroll through threads, re-reading the stuff I already read.
Elephas Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Can we have the Simple Machines forum back? This looks too much like Head-Fi, I'm afraid I'll be confused and make stupid(er) posts.

I hate having to scroll through threads, re-reading the stuff I already read. +1 otherwise, I'll just check a few threads here and there and it's much harder to be involved in the site.

JBLoudG20 Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 http://www.head-case.org/forums/search.php?do=getnew http://www.head-case.org/forums/search.php?do=getdaily No, I mean a link to the new posts in the thread. For example, I saw there were posts in here. I clicked the thread, and I had to scroll through all the old posts. The SMF would bring me right to the first post that I had not read.
tkam Posted June 13, 2008 Author Report Posted June 13, 2008 Ok you see the thread list then, look at the last post column. Click the little arrow next to the username and it takes you to the most recent post in the thread. Not that hard .
n_maher Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 I'm sure, given a bit of time, that we can make this place look less like Head-Fi. Right now we're on the stock theme, maybe there are alternates that can easily be setup?

JBLoudG20 Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Little blue down pointing triangle. But doesn't this bring you to the last post in the thread?
ojnihs Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 woah. i wasn't expecting this much of a change.
JBLoudG20 Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Ah thank you good sir. Ok people, move along. p.s. bring back pretty.
tkam Posted June 13, 2008 Author Report Posted June 13, 2008 Almost forgot, for those you have that don't have your avatars anywhere, I do still have copies of them all. I'll put up a link later that contains all the avatars I have from the old software.
Spiug31 Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 Any likelihood of increasing the size limit for each image in albums ? 97.3 KB is too small to make out details of mini-dacs' internals, previously the image file was 299KB. p.s. I preferred the previous site aesthetics and having buttons I could click for posts "since I last logged-in" and "replies to thread I've posted in" was a boon.
tkam Posted June 13, 2008 Author Report Posted June 13, 2008 Yes limits like that will be changed as I go through all the settings. Just haven't had the time to yet.

I preferred the previous site aesthetics and having buttons I could click for posts "since I last logged-in" and "replies to thread I've posted in" was a boon. I preferred the old software asthetically, but I think I was just used to it. I'm sure this can be great, if not better Also, any chance of the warning that a new post has been made while typing your reply?
dc Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 very exciting, themes are easily changed on vbulletin
Spiug31 Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 "Also, any chance of the warning that a new post has been made while typing your reply?" In the similar large red letters please I'm a slow typer/thinker - that too was a useful feature Also will the "Quote" button be appearing again on individual messages while within the "reply to Thread" mode. p.s. many thanks for doing all this work "having buttons I could click for posts "since I last logged-in" and "replies to thread I've posted in" was a boon." I've just spotted the "New Posts" button
Duggeh Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 It will take a little to get used to missing the right hand new posts bar. But its looking pretty slick I have to say. Not unlike Head-Fi pre spamverts.
Duggeh Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 And is it just me or can I not actually type anything in the new chatroom thing?
postjack Posted June 13, 2008 Report Posted June 13, 2008 thanks tkam, I love vB. The quick reply function is a relief for mobile users, and sorry jb, but I like the lack of the new reply warning for the same reason.
tkam Posted June 13, 2008 Author Report Posted June 13, 2008 All the old avatars can be found here: Avatars They aren't really named anything useful though so you'll probably have to check through them all to find yours.
