The Monkey Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Took the little one to the FDNY museum. He got bored. Then went to the Ear Inn for lunch, which the missus and I forgot is really just a bar. So he went to his first bar today.
Dusty Chalk Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Don't all cats puke, like, all the time?Puking isn't the same as hairballs.
en480c4 Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Got the rest of the base cabinets for the main part of my kitchen assembled and in. Helped my father work out some of the annoying details involved with putting a new kitchen in a > 100 year old barn without a straight or plumb wall to be found. Ready for the concrete board backing for the backsplash and countertops. Really, really starting to get excited.

Salt Peanuts Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Tried to setup group hotel reservation website for our wedding only to find out that they gave us the wrong information.
en480c4 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I hope you had him straighten out those fucked up walls New walls are straight. Tough part is where the new walls meet the old walls... Not rebuilding the whole thing, and there's not a square corner in the place. So far, so good, though.

ojnihs Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 starting to look great there Ian Oh, I watched my Steelers win the superbowl!
MrSlacker Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 spent entire day in bed because of some messed up virus
grawk Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Watched the caps beat the senators on tv. Then watched my kid's hockey practice. Then went grocery shopping. Then spent 3 hrs talking to my oldest kid about the choices he's making, and the repercussions of said choices... Didn't watch any football. I have mixed feelings about who won the football game, as I grew up a steelers fan, but hate the penguins enough that it tainted all pittsburgh sports teams. Anyway, sounds like a good game, hope everyone enjoyed it.
humanflyz Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Let's see: the girl I've been seeing for the past 6 months left to go back to California (on good terms) to be with her family, and someone stole my clothes, wallet, iPhone, and keys from my locker at the gym. Could've been worse I suppose.
JBLoudG20 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Ian, you could be making dinner, AND looking up the skirts of your dinner guests.
jinp6301 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 There was a fire in my apartment building at 5 am. Had to stand outside for like 2 hours and had a 8:30 class
guzziguy Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 only if they had kicked you in the face. Or hit you with a shovel.
Salt Peanuts Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Went to work, hoping to get some much needed paperwork done. No such luck, of course, with one of my teachers being pulled to sub in another classroom. Left work on time to get some grocery shopping done and finished making Japanese-style curry few minutes ago.
Hopstretch Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Rotated the new APC power conditioner and some sweet SIALO speaker cables into the HT system. It's now 14.3 percent more better. Give or take.
Beefy Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Submitted a fellowship application. Fingers crossed! Finished my second y1. Still haven't got my SMD technique anywhere near perfected, but getting better
Knuckledragger Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Measured two windows for curtains. I feel so ...domestic. Sorted health insurance paperwork, but did not deal with any of it. Re-wired my headphone rig. Three new sets of cables, all going from the preamp. One pair of XLRs for the Quads, one pair of XLRs for the HRBD, one pair of RCA to 1/4"s for the Hafler. I spent the better part of an hour fighting that sodding Hafler. I still need to snake out the Kimber speaker cables from the back and dig out my TR2.
Smeggy Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Submitted a fellowship application. Fingers crossed! Finished my second y1. Still haven't got my SMD technique anywhere near perfected, but getting better Nice Beefy, I'm listening to mine right now and I'm impressed. I wonder if there's any easy way to lower the output, my mini3 is loud even a low volume and I'm getting a little imbalance..

I wonder if there's any easy way to lower the output, my mini3 is loud even a low volume and I'm getting a little imbalance.. What is the gain on your Mini3? Dropping that down a notch would be the most obvious option. From memory, there is also an alternative to the WM8501 DAC, the WM8759, that is virtually identical but outputs 0.5VRMS lower. Don't know that you want to try changing the DAC chip now though......

This one is a high power 5 gain. It works fine from a DAP that doesn't have quite the output of the Gamma. I think it's putting out about 2x the signal. Couple that with high amp gain and the volume knob hovers pretty low. I need to get another mini3 with lower gain just for this purpose and keep the current one for strictly DAP use. They sound seriously good though. My orthos have never sounded better.
spritzer Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 What about adding a fixed attenuation to the cable going from the Gamma to the Mini? It's just a couple of resistors for each channel, tied to ground.
