Craig Sawyers Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I was gonna guess he worked at Hooters. Heh - I could wish!
Voltron Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Last night and into this morning, I took my daughter to a sweet 16 party for two of her friends at a movie theater. I know most of the adults involved, and ended up staying for the duration and having a couple of beers. The two birthday girls are in a rock band called The She's and through MySpace or somehow, they became friends with the legitimate SF band Girls. Christopher Owens, lead singer of Girls, asked the Austin, TX band Harlem to play for their party and they agreed to come and play after opening at the Warfield Theater for Jack White's new band Dead Weather, with whom they are touring. They actually showed up and set up in one of the theaters and played for 40 minutes or so starting at about 12:30am. They kept saying how weird it was but that they were having fun and how weird it was that they were having fun. My daughter points out today that they Tweeted similarly to their followers last night. Odd evening and odd sweet 16 but cool nonetheless.
NightWoundsTime Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Yesterday: Drove to Tallahassee. Unloaded uhaul. Sweated like a sweaty mofo. Had a giant sushi bowl at SumoSabi. Slept. Today: Posting at McD's. Damn their free wi-fi, I already have a serious weakness for their breakfast foods. Got to find a large area rug today. Emailing craigslist peoples. I failed to notice how soft and off kilter the living room floor in my house was. Not something that's going to fall through, and nothing a rug won't fix. Old house with old house problems but I'm already falling in love with the place.
boomana Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Congrats on the move. Get a rug. Set up your tunes. Enjoy.
The Monkey Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 That sounds like a pretty cool sweet 16. I should have been in a band.

agile_one Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Congrats on the move, Matt. Happy settling in.
tyrion Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Matt, congrats! I will be there in the fall when I take my son to see FSU.
morphsci Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Congrats on the move Matt. I second Vicki's advice, get a rug and get the music going. @Mike - I see trouble on the horizon, a daughter at UF and a son at FSU
Salt Peanuts Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Looking at new clothes for our daughter. Clothes we have that fit her are not season/weather appropriate. I must note there are entirely too much pink in girl's clothing items.
morphsci Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Stayed up to three last night (this morning) moving stuff back into the office after we painted. Now going through a lot of it, determining it's shit and throwing it out.
Craig Sawyers Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 i've been making ciabatta and gazpacho. it's about 105 in my kitchen. fortunately i have very cold beer to combat it. Mmm - gazpacho. Needs enough time in the fridge. Given the 105, maybe you should join it in there
spritzer Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Mmmm ciabatta. Ambient temp is a real issue for me as well since we let ours settle for about 4 hours each morning before cutting it up and it can get a bit big...
blessingx Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Congrats Matt and good luck with the rug hunt.
spritzer Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 It's ciabatta, you can always just burst the largest gas bubbles and it will still rise. That said our dough has something which makes it a lot easier to manage...
spritzer Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 Ireks Hvedebag as it is known in the Scandinavian market. Basically wheat sour dough in powder form.
spritzer Posted July 24, 2010 Report Posted July 24, 2010 I'd send you some but somehow I don't think customs takes too kindly to some white powder (well slight yellow tint) in a bag being shipped... The manufacturer bags are also too big since you could make about 1000 pieces from a 30pound bag.
shellylh Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 Spent time in airports and airplanes but now I am back home.
mypasswordis Posted July 25, 2010 Report Posted July 25, 2010 Drove to Richmond. Concert? And I assume you also drove back?
