Salt Peanuts Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 It didn't get approved. It was a figment of everyone else's imagination. You'd better take it home before people see it and get confused...... I wish - hopefully, I'll get to enjoy it with some of the students as I've always wanted one.
manaox2 Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Nice, I would love to have those for my class, they were great when I was in college.
Dreadhead Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Fought with my fucking drobo. I usually leave my computer asleep and just wake it up when I want to do something. So I wake it up and starte Windows Media Player (don't start) to sync some new cd's to my media player and the fucking drobo doesn't wake up and refuses to respond and shows that the directories are empty. WMP then starts removing the "lost" media and all hell breaks loose, luckily I was looking at the screen and had not walked off. I then try and wake up drobo by unplugging the USB then it comes back asking to be formatted (WTF!!!!) anyway after powering both computer and drobo down entirely everything is back and no data loss. This fucking drobo gives me a heart attack every couple months.
cetoole Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Just unpacked bunch of educational science equipment for work/school we purchased through a grant. Much to my surprise, included in the first batch of stuff was a Lego Mindstorm - I really didn't think the item would get approved. We used one of these in an engineering class, and the system was pretty cool. Unfortunately, the project was one which would have been much easier to do with discrete logic.
Voltron Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Signed up last minute for MCLE class to complete my 3-year requirement. At least it was free because MoFo is so generous!
swt61 Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Quads are awesome! I can't think of a better home for them. Congrats!
Grahame Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Signed up last minute for MCLE class to complete my 3-year requirement. At least it was free because MoFo is so generous! Whats that in English? This? Morrison & Foerster : Events : Seminar : MCLE Workshop (San Francisco Presentation) 1/12/05 Is the 8:30 Slot a practical?
Grahame Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Or Better Yet, this years class, which is more descriptive, yet somehow less fun http://www.mofo.com/events/seminars/files/14846.html As an aside, Do Morrison & Foerster associates get to put "I'm a MoFo'" on their Business Cards Bone? or Eggshell with Romalian Type? Morrison & Foerster : Events : Seminar : MCLE Workshop (San Francisco Presentation) 1/12/05 Is the 8:30 Slot a practical? Nice translation, but what does "a practical" mean? If you mean is it practical, then yes, I am [almost] always in the office by then.
Salt Peanuts Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Nice translation, but what does "a practical" mean? If you mean is it practical, then yes, I am [almost] always in the office by then. I think he meant whether or not you'll be actively participating (as in a lab practical) in the stated topic for 8.30.
Grahame Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 Nice translation, but what does "a practical" mean? If you mean is it practical, then yes, I am [almost] always in the office by then. Practical as opposed to Theoretical (test or exam). E.g. Chemistry Practical (exam), where you have to actually do things, rather than just writing them down. Is there US equivalent terminology?
Voltron Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 I think some people use that terminology. I have also heard "practicum" used on occasion. But given that part of the day is concerned with avoidance of alcohol and substance abuse, do you really think that could be more than theoretical in my case?

That's how we used it, at least as bio/biochem students in college. I generally enjoyed them (lab practical), though I was a rather bad student.

Fitz Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Got a package from digikey and replaced a few more blown parts in my fileserver's power supply, finally tracing the problem to the buck controller IC for the 5V rail. Good thing I ordered some replacements from ON semi just in case... maybe in a couple days I'll actually have it back up and running.
Voltron Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Received a Luxman P1u from Todd on the loaner program.
Voltron Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Listened to my R10s for the last time That is so sad. :'( I hope they are going to a good home.
Voltron Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 I also realized today that there is no question that my arms are covered in poison oak rash. I worked on a creek restoration project at my son's school and in the process of removing invasive species like blackberry my arms got scratched up. There must have been a good amount of poison oak where I was working. Damn I hate poison oak.
nattonrice Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Arrived in Japan to the relief that is winter... Sydney is too hot recently =S
Wmcmanus Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Not good, Al. Really sorry to hear about this. I used to get that as a kid and remember it well. Not fun at all.

episiarch Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Listened to my R10s for the last time +1 to the and to the hope they'll be fully appreciated in their new home. Closed deal with a nanny for the 1 1/2 year old. Come next month it's time for me to stop being a full-time dad, go out into the world, and make something of myself.

Salt Peanuts Posted January 26, 2010 Report Posted January 26, 2010 Just had a fire drill at work/school. Almost fell on my face slipping on a patch of ice.
