boomana Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Aimless1, that's just weird. Doesn't a medical examiner have to declare things and whatnot before a funeral home can scoop you up, or did I watch too much tv as a kid?
Augsburger Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Congrats. I had no idea you were running a marathon. Congrats. I've done a couple of metric centuries and they are hard as hell. Never did a full century. I can only imagine how difficult it is. Mike it is really no different in effort than a marathon really. Takes six hours but not as tough on the body I think. Congrats by the way, good for you.
The Monkey Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Received the SPDIF amplifier. Optical instead of coax sent by mistake. made the best of it only to find that I am somehow short one optical cable. :palm: Actually I have one more, but it's mini-to-mini optical. :palm: Stupid everything.

Doesn't a medical examiner have to declare things and whatnot before a funeral home can scoop you up, or did I watch too much tv as a kid? That is pretty much my thinking. Not really the time or place to ask too many questions, but apparently she was under hospice care, and as fate would have it, many of her hospice care providers were at the funeral visitation. Apparently their presence was enough to allow the home to keep her. I can't imagine the funeral home would keep a body they shouldn't have. But a rather confusing time last night, to say the least.
swt61 Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Sorry to hear that. That would be hard to handle. You can try to prepare for a funeral, but a death at said funeral has to be a real blow. Hope your family is coping well.

Sorry about the terrible news. How's your family doing today?
Aimless1 Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Thanks for all your well wishes. Family is having a tough time today, but the funeral is over for my wife's uncle. They can now deal with her deceased aunt. As you might imagine, the surviving siblings (Mom Z and Uncle Jim) are both in shock, even today. Not surprising. I'm pretty sure as a courtesy to the family the home moved the body so as not to cause a scene during the visitation. No doubt whatever procedure needed to be followed was handled after the visitation. The aunt's arrangements will be handled tomorrow morning, which seems to me to be a good idea. An incredible series of events and a tragic loss for the family. Shock and awe pretty much describes the feeling.
guzziguy Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Sorry to hear that Doug. At least you're OK. Hopefully it was a minor "crash".
Duggeh Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 It was actually pretty impressive, I should have broken my neck or something. Got away with some nasty scrapes. Car is a write-off.
Grahame Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 It was actually pretty impressive, I should have broken my neck or something. Got away with some nasty scrapes. Car is a write-off. Glad you're OK. Pics? Do we need to start a most impressive fender-bender (with pics) thread?
Duggeh Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 My sister took a couple of pics on her phone but she's in bed. I'll post them tomo. Have to get the bus for a bit. Until I replace the car. Might have to flip this HD800. Although not like I flipped the car.
Voltron Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Woopsy. Hope you still feel alright tomorrow, and that you have insurance!
Duggeh Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Arm is stinging but otherwise fine. Good to be unhurt, bad at not getting to skive boring tutorial tomo. ;p You can't drive without insurance. It's against the law. But my insurance was 3rd party fire and theft, so I won't get any money for this. Although my premium might go up.
Hopstretch Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Well that sucks. So what actually happened?
Dusty Chalk Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 ...I won't get any money for this. Although my premium might go up.Dude, that sucks on top of sucks.
Duggeh Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Well that sucks. So what actually happened? I drove too fast for the road conditions and flipped the car round a corner. It landed on the passenger side on the wrong side of the road. I got out through the sunroof after falling out of my seat when I took my belt off. Phoned my dad and he came up the hill and we towed the car back to the house. I didn't make it to the talk by the visiting speaker from Harviestoun Brewery at the union. Insurance doesn't hurt too much. The car was only worth a few hundred pounds.
Grahame Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Duggeh for Team "My Headphones/Speakers/Amps/Sources cost more than my car/insurance/medical bills/drinks budget" (delete as appropriate)
Duggeh Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 I think that my speaker amp was the only part of my hi-fi not worth more than the car. Not that I'm certain how much I'd have got for it if I'd tried to sell it.
Hopstretch Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 If the car wasn't worth much and the PoPo weren't involved, it might be best not to mention this unpleasantness to the insurance company at all?
Duggeh Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 When you apply for or renew insurance theres a requirement to disclose that sort of information. Although IIRC now, it may only be on actual claims.
Aimless1 Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Sorry to hear about the car. Happy you're okay! Re insurance here in the USA, only required to disclose claims that are actually submitted to an insurer. If you didn't submit a claim not sure what right they have to "know" about it?
