Hopstretch Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Today was National Braai (BBQ) Day. Seriously. Grilled some sausages and chicken kebabs for lunch. Now drinking beer.

aardvark baguette Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 there are 318 jelly beans in that jar
shellylh Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 I want some BBQ... I cannot emphasize how tired I am of sauerkraut and tasteless potatoes and wheat beer.
Craig Sawyers Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 there are no jelly beans in that jar, for it is a static 2 dimensional representation. There is no spoon
shellylh Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 (edited) you're supposed to mix the potatoes and wheat beer with the sauerkraut for flavor, i think. eat some sauerbraten and spaetzle, that's good and has taste. In a perfect world where I got to choose who to sit with at dinner and what to eat, that would be a good choice. Only one more meal at the math prison though, yeah! I'll make sure to mix beer with everything. *We did have sauerbraten for lunch one day this week and it was excellent. Had something other sort of pork/mushrooms/gravy dish that was also good too but I don't remember the name of it. Edited September 24, 2010 by shellylh
Salt Peanuts Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 I didn't realize they fed you sauerkraut in math prison. I don't think I want to go there.

shellylh Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Yep, it will be good to be back. They purposely only have internet access here in the dining/common room and in the library. No good for head-casing.
jinp6301 Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 that's because hipsters aren't good at sports. also nerds are bad at sports (except swimming)

Salt Peanuts Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 i really like sauerkraut, but i wouldn't want it any more than i want it, which is to say, not when i don't. Never acquired a taste for it myself. My wife loves it, though, and I think she cooks hot dogs just so she has an excuse to eat more sauerkraut.
jvlgato Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Sauerkraut on brats = yum! Never got into it until I met my wife; she grew up in small town Wisconsin, and they ate almost as much of that, as I ate rice growing up.
guzziguy Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Reubens are also a good medium for sauerkraut.
shellylh Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 -----wut, no schnitzle? I luvz me some wheat beer. Schnitzle is good... wish I had some! I will be happy to leave the wheat beers here. I have a bottle of Ken and Fritz Ale that I think I will open when I get back. That is more like it. Yum. As for the sauerkraut, I like it too, on dogs, but dishes that primarily consist of baked sauerkraut and pasta just goes too far. I am now out of math prison and at airport hotel prison until tomorrow morning... quite a step up.
Duggeh Posted September 24, 2010 Report Posted September 24, 2010 Finished repainting my room. Mmm, red.
morphsci Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Shelly, Next time you go to Germany go to Munich. Real Beer and real food. Many schnitzels and wursts aplenty, plus you can get a respite from sauerkraut by substituting red cabbage. Weizens are for breakfast and the tors (Celebrator, Optimator, etc.), mixed in with some schwarze beers and some doppelbocks, are the evening beers. Plus Munich is much more laid back compared to other places in Der Fatherland.
laxx Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Finished up my tattoo, then went to San Janeiro festival.
Wmcmanus Posted September 25, 2010 Report Posted September 25, 2010 Walked around the back of my house to discover that my wheelbarrow is missing. I'm hoping that someone I know borrowed it this summer. It would spook me a bit if it was actually stolen. Not that I give a shit about a wheelbarrow since it can be replaced for $50 or less. But dang! It was on the back porch, just one broken sliding glass door and 10 feet away from my all-MBL system.
