MrSlacker Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Monkey, I am alright. Been working all summer and got into a new hobby (cars) so not much time is spent on other stuff. We gotta grab a beer any time after Sept 21st, havent seen you in ages!
jvlgato Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Custom title!!!!!! Ha! Sure, why not? I never did get 'Skinny Asian Guy Who Holds Reks' Bag' after CJ as promised, and this would be even better! And what about our mustard wearing friend? She must deserve another custom title? BTW, I hope it was a strong, solid German, and not some bland, generic yellow?
tyrion Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 So far, got up at 5:30 to start the smoker, waited 30 minutes until the thunderstorm stopped, fired up the smoker and added two 5 pound briskets for Rosh Hashanah dinner tonight..
agile_one Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Damn, Al ... your right wrist? Isn't that the one you drop the tone arm with? The one you roll dice with? The one you polish ... At least you got the garage cleaned up. Next time, as Nate says, call the east coast travel and destruction team to lend a hand. I do believe medical technology has come a long way, though, and hopefully you can be made better than new.
jinp6301 Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 You know this isint the what are you drinking thread, right?
shellylh Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Huh? I didn't say I was drinking blood
screaming oranges Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 One can only hope that you would use your Robot Hand for good! He'll probably have at least one finger rigged to open corked bottles on the fly.
swt61 Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Al I hope the Dr. can sort out your wrist. I know how that can hurt. I've done the exact same thing on a few occasions, then bought a bigger drill with an optional side grip. But I had a strong wrist to begin with (don't ask), so keep us posted on the medical opinion. And if all else fails to ease the pain, there's always Red Vodka.
spritzer Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I can always supply red vodka if it helps my US legal team. Get better soon Al. Yesterday I had a mini-meet here with Stuart which was basically us talking until midnight with about 10 minutes of listening thrown in. Pretty much the definition of a mini-meet... Today I was busy with cleaning up the house and even attempted to sort out all the DIY related parts cluttering up the place. That pretty much failed...
Craig Sawyers Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 Al dear boy, owch. Look on the upside though. 20 years ago they didn't have robotic hands. Soon you could be the bionic man, with the strength to crush almonds in your mighty metal fist. That Al does sound really awful. But Doug's comment for some reason made me think of Dr Stragelove....
Voltron Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 May it please the Court . . . and if it doesn't I will crush you. Thanks for the sympathies, all. The wrist hasn't been as bad as I expected on Monday, but I clearly have to get it looked at. I will send out word if Red Vodka is needed to forget the pain, what caused it, and why I would need Red Vodka in the first place.
grawk Posted September 8, 2010 Report Posted September 8, 2010 I did some further investigation as to what's wrong with my a/c in the passat. It's likely the high pressure sensor, so I ordered one. 2 more weeks without AC, then I'll replace it and not need it
morphsci Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Late to the thread, but sorry about the wrist re-injury, Al. Good thing you prefer stirring to shaking.
Voltron Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 I just shook a couple of Scofflaws and did not cry out in pain. My wrist is still swollen enough that I should deal with it soon, but I am already seeing one doctor this week for a lame skin thing. That will equal my tri-annual average for doctor visits, so it may take me awhile. After those two drinks, I am not feeling much pain anyway, so who cares....
luvdunhill Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 [i will send out word if Red Vodka is needed to forget the pain, what caused it, and why I would need Red Vodka in the first place. wait, is it your throwing arm? :)
Voltron Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 wait, is it your throwing arm? :) Sadly, yes.
tyrion Posted September 9, 2010 Report Posted September 9, 2010 Went to visit Oz and listen to some vinyl: He Let me take home a toy to play with for a bit:
tyrion Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Woke up at 3 am, got to the beach by 4 am, ran 18 miles, got a 20 minute massage at the park where we start/finish, cpand came home. I hope to chill out and listen to music the rest of the day.
shellylh Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 That is crazy but, good for you Mike!
tyrion Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 It is but the difference between starting then or an hour or two later is huge in terms of the heat.
Eric5676 Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Today, being fully mindful of what day it is like I have been the last 9 years...as usual I will be doing everything BUT having any kind of news media on this weekend. I will be watching football. I will be going out and enjoying the weather and so forth. Make it the best day you can folks however suits you. Never forget.
mrarroyo Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Had the Z washed and waxed, then went to ACE to pick up a Torx 5 driver to work on iRiver H120. I am currently formatting the 80 GB HD I installed on the H120 to be followed by installing Rockbox, I hope ti works! I also replace the battery with a 2300 mAh one.
screaming oranges Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Met up with Harold (a local head-fi dude), who was interested in buying my amp (negotiated price, since it was local). Spent most of the time discussing gear and hearing gear at his place. I'm terrible with names, but another person was there who also seemed pretty cool. Nice time overall!
boomana Posted September 11, 2010 Report Posted September 11, 2010 Went to a Remembrance Ceremony in a park for my boss/friend/mentor who was killed last year. Cried, ate too much food, talked a lot with his dad and great aunt. Worth it for that, I guess.
