MexicanDragon Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Thanks for all the congrats guys... gives me the warm/fuzzies. All your Colin's JH16 are belong to Brent! The plan is to get a 100% company match on my contributions for a retirement fund. Except substitute JH1x for retirement, and Colin for company. **BRENT**
boomana Posted July 22, 2010 Report Posted July 22, 2010 Glad that worked out, Nate, and although it may be weird, try and enjoy your last day at the old job. I mean what are they going to do, fire you? Craig, that sounds like a whole different kind of bad weird.
shellylh Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Nate: Glad everything got worked out. Brent: Congrats!!!! My day has been filled with math talks, a BBQ, and finally finding some time to catch up on the Case.
morphsci Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Glad everything worked out Nate and Craig, I know it won't make you feel any better but glacial is the default speed of every academic institution I have been associated or dealt with. Eventually, they do get the job done.
Voltron Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Nate: Glad everything got worked out. Brent: Congrats!!!! You've been away too long, and violated the single "congrat" rule that Tice put into place. 5 demerit.
n_maher Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 In more fun news I finally got to try the big mill tonight in its role as precision round hole cutter accessory. In doing dome final testing of Al's BHse I decided that I wanted to add a bit more ventilation to the power supply chassis. This previously would have meant hours of layout, punch, drill, redrill, redrill again to add the roughly 30 or so holes that I wanted to do. I got the piece setup on the mill in about 10 minutes and a little over a half hour later I was done. Mill/drill FTMFW!
shellylh Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 You've been away too long, and violated the single "congrat" rule that Tice put into place. 5 demerit. Oh damns!!!!
Dusty Chalk Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I spent 2+ hours in a meeting, with a group of people who usually are very efficient -- I actually usually don't mind going to meetings with them, because they're usually (a) useful, and ( short. This was still useful, but...JESUS CHRIST, 2+ HOURS?!?!? My stamina is shot to hell from atrophy, so they got to go straight to the marathon? I am so spoiled.
Voltron Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 That's awesome Nate! And not just because it benefits me. It also eases my guilt level. Er, I mean, it is cool that the mill works so well and makes you a more efficient retired builder!
Craig Sawyers Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I know it won't make you feel any better but glacial is the default speed of every academic institution I have been associated or dealt with. Eventually, they do get the job done. It's reassuring that this phenomenon seems not to be a speciality of Leicester University. I'm sure it does not help with it being during vacation season - if the papers are in someone's in-tray and then they go for two weeks holiday - that is where the papers stay.
Iron_Dreamer Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Got up, got a bowl of Pho down at the temple. Spiced the hell out of it, and ate in the Florida heat. One of the better sweaty meals of my life. Jealous make me you do.
swt61 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Oh damns!!!! We don't just throw damns away around here either! One at a time please. Think of the planet and try to be conservative, thanks.

Er, I mean, it is cool that the mill works so well and makes you a more efficient retired builder! I freely admit to giggling like a little girl while working and also wondering what exactly my hesitation was in buying something like this in the past. Jebus, the number of hours wasted using the wrong tool for the job.
morphsci Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 ... Jebus, the number of hours wasted using the wrong tool for the job. Heh. That's a statement I make every time I buy a new tool. Not that I have any tool as awesome as that mill.
mrarroyo Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 I am packing for the Fort Myers meet. I hope the listeners are surprised by how good an older (1977-79) Marantz 2238B can make a K1000 and an Stax (via SRD7 modded by Birgir) sound.
Pars Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Congrats on the mill usage and on the job switch proceeding as planned Nate. I'm sure that was a bit odd on Thursday. Vicki: glad that the NSAID is working; that is good news. When I was going thru my hip(s), I was taking diclofenac sodium, and it helped, but wasn't what I would call awesome. I looked into resurfacing but my ortho recommended against it; these things seem to come into/fall out of favor. And Brent, congrats on the job.
morphsci Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 Oops! Forgot to congratulate Brent. I will have a biscuit in your honor.
shellylh Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 We don't just throw damns away around here either! One at a time please. Think of the planet and try to be conservative, thanks. Does it help if they were recycled?
Craig Sawyers Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 we had a power outage earlier, so i took a nap. was nice. Power outages are good - makes you get back to the basics of life. Food, sleeping and sex - not necessarily in that order. And possibly a bit of booze thrown in for good measure.

Craig Sawyers Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 he's an escort at a drowsy bar, apparently.
swt61 Posted July 23, 2010 Report Posted July 23, 2010 he's an escort at a drowsy bar, apparently. I was gonna guess he worked at Hooters.
