swt61 Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 We all dabbed expensive scotch behind our ears.
Voltron Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 What was it with Reks and the face-sucking at CanJam? Salt depletion? This one's for Dinny:
Voltron Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) Awesome! Meet Al, who's lived most everywhere, From San Francisco to his Mayberry lair. But Reks's only seen the sights. A boy can see on Cincinnati nights -- What a crazy pair! But they're cousins, Identical cousins all the way. One pair of matching bookends, Different as night and day. Where Al adores a minuet, The Ballet Russes, and crepe suzette, Our Reks loves to rock and roll, A hot dog makes him lose control -- What a wild duet! Still, they're cousins, Identical cousins and you'll find, They laugh alike, they walk alike, At times they even talk alike -- You can lose your mind, When cousins are two of a kind.* *Sung to the tune of The Patty Duke Show theme song. The Monkey Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Fighting a headache all day. Giggling isn't helping much. But in some ways it is.
Dusty Chalk Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 What was it with Reks and the face-sucking at CanJam? Salt depletion?Brain-sucking. Because being dead hurts.

Okay, I'm old enough to know how really funny this is.
Voltron Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 Okay, I'm old enough to know how really funny this is. Ditto! Thank god I'm not the only one. We used to sing that song all the time with my many cousins.
shellylh Posted June 10, 2010 Report Posted June 10, 2010 (edited) Got the Headamp KGSS in the mail from Stretch! Since this is my first electostrostatic headphone amp, I need to ask some stupid questions. Should I do or not do anything (I know not to pour water on the amp or headphones)? For example, 1. Should I start up/turn off the amp with a load (headphones plugged in) or not or does it not matter? 2. How long should the amp be on with out a load? 3. I assume I should turn down the volume when switching headphones (although since I have one pair I don't have a problem). 4. I assume it is biased at 580V and I don't need to open it up to change anything. 5. Do I need to keep stat headphones under a dust cover? Anything else? Thanks in advance for answering my newbie questions. Edited June 10, 2010 by shellylh
Dusty Chalk Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 I think the KGSS is built such that you don't need a load (someone confirm or deny), but there's really no point in having it on unless the headphones are plugged in, just in case they take longer to wake up than is normal. 4. Don't make assumptions, you'll make an ass out of you and umptions. 5. Yes, absolutely.
boomana Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Thank god I'm not the only one. We used to sing that song all the time with my many cousins. But now I can't get the damn song out of my head. Curses on you, Al.

Re #2, I was just asking for the future, when/if I get the O2's or take it to a meet. Re #4, I have PM'd Stretch.
Hopstretch Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Plug in headphones, plug in amp, turn on, enjoy!
skullguise Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Catching up on this: - Congrats, Stretch! Just gotta work on your wickid pissah accent now - Patty Duke, huh? My wife sings that sometimes, the only thing she remembers is something about a hot dog "driving her wild" - We're still in Aruba, went to a great restaurant called El-Guacho's tonight. Red and the other white meat aplenty, and also red wine Sangria (not so much, but major yummage)....I got verklempt, it was like buttah I tell you......

Do not pour water or other beverages onto the amp or headphones, but otherwise this should be easy. I have never heard of plugging in headphones before the amp but curious if others think this is preferable. I also think it is ok to have the amp on without a load for reasonable periods of time but again I an curious of the more knowledgeable takes on this issue. Enjoy in any case.
shellylh Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 Only one congrat but since you gave me a pretty princess, I'll forgive you.

Voltron Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 i finally found a good mexican restaurant in cincinnati tonight. That is a very important discovery because I could live without Mexican food. Seriously.
shellylh Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 I had Mexican (well Tex-Mex) as soon as I got back in town. Definitely could not live without it.
cetoole Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 I know of a good Mexican in Tennessee. You should let Brent know about him/her, so they can hang out.
Iron_Dreamer Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 i bet it's a bit easier t find good mexican where you are than where i am. Try finding good Mexican in Hawai'i
humanflyz Posted June 11, 2010 Report Posted June 11, 2010 I spent the whole day finishing up my final, last paper at the University of Chicago. And having turned in my thesis a week ago, that makes me done with M.A. It has been a taxing year, in terms of intellectual stimulation, but it was all worth it. Now I'm just feeling dazed and not sure what to do with myself.
