Voltron Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Now I'm hungry, thanks Mike. That's very cool Nate. Have fun, especially since there won't be a Mexican showing up and ruining it for everyone. Pics or ban, Steve, pics or ban.
tyrion Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Starting to boil the artichokes which will be cut in half and finished on the grill with some garlic, paprica, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 30 degrees out and sunny. Heater full blast and top down on the Miata. My goal is top down at least once each month all year. Ears a little cold but not bad at all. Big grin.
tyrion Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 That's hard core. I didn't get another convertible because it's too friggin hot most of the time to have it down.
Absorbine_Sr Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 That's hard core. I didn't get another convertible because it's too friggin hot most of the time to have it down. I've been there too. That's why I get air conditioning in my convertibles. Most people find it hard to believe it can be too hot for a convertible.
spritzer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Worked on my longest running DIY project, how to cram an amp into a Koss ESP10 energizer chassis. Not easy but it will be some form of the differential amp (ECC83's and 7n7's) with the old KGSS psu (i.e. what PCB I had at hand). Should be a cool little balanced amp if I ever finish it (2+ years and counting now)...
mypasswordis Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 You wouldn't happen to have the ESP10 also laying around, would you?
spritzer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 Nope, sold them without the transformer box. I had no use for it (and nobody wanted it) so I thought I could use the box for something else.
mypasswordis Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I would've liked it for my ESP10, just for the sake of having the complete set. But I've already lopped off the stock plug so it's too late to go back. I'd have been interested in any insights on modding you might've developed, other than using O2 pads. I know the SR-5 pads work and I hear the Denon pads also work, both being a cheaper option. Those JMoney Denon pads look interesting as well.
spritzer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I just removed the caps from inside the housings and converted them to Stax. It was a time of great abundance of headphones so I didn't spend any real time with them...
mypasswordis Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 You removed them? What exactly do they do, along with the resistors? Are the resistors just bleeders?
spritzer Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 I never studied the ESP10 circuit in detail so I can't be sure what they did nor remember the values. The original plan was to ditch the cups and build something new and just use them with Stax Pro bias but then I got an offer for them and...
mypasswordis Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I wonder if they can be put in a Lambda shell.. But nah, once I took out the foam and the plastic circle things it got a lot less echoey and it's pretty much fully open now so the stock enclosure should be fine. I think I might play around with the stock damping (the thick wad of felt and tissue paper) and swapping caps. Not sure I'd go as far as just removing them.
spritzer Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 They won't fit in a Lambda chassis but I'm sure Smeggy could make something for you if you asked nicely. Without retracing the rather odd E-10 circuit it is hard to know why the caps are there. Probably some compensation but with Koss, you can never be sure.
aardvark baguette Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I'm going in today, since no one else is going to be there. I'll actually get some work done.
nattonrice Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Visited my parents and found my copy of Mechanical Animals which was followed by much celebration~ I seem to be going through a high-school redux phase recently.
Dreadhead Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I am stuck at work while friends are out riding on the first sunny above zero day in at least a month. fuck
shellylh Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Sitting at the airport waiting for my flight to SFO which is delayed for 2 hours. At least I have Wifi through MyTether/Pre.
n_maher Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I'm sitting at the airport too Shelly. Just got through the massive hassle caused by me seeing if there was an earlier flight I could catch. The ever helpful folks at US airways said yes and booked the flight which would have got me out of here an hour earlier. Of course what they didn't say was that it would get me home a half hour later. Several phone calls and supervisor later I'm back on my original flight. Ugh.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 I'm going in today, since no one else is going to be there. I'll actually get some work done. This, except everyone is here. For some reason I find the relaxed atmosphere of a holiday combined with the comradery of other people being here as optimal for getting work done.
Duggeh Posted January 18, 2010 Report Posted January 18, 2010 Today was a compilation of irritation and ill-will. Everything broke today. Mouse, keyboard, monitor, broadband. I spent many unproductive hours on that last one. And thank The Dude I keep a spare old NEC flatscreen. Had really bad indigestion after breakfast, had crap soup for lunch and chewy meatballs for tea. Learned nothing of importance in the studious hours during which a ring binder spilled its contents onto the floor, the pages scattering like some sort of horrible cubist milk. Oh yeah, and cut myself shaving for the first time in as long as I can remember. Humbug.
