manaox2 Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Dinny, all the best helping your family through one of my nightmare scenarios. Danny, all this stress being put on you with your wife and dog, happy to hear it seems to be overall happy endings. Doug, nice day. I like the ending the best. I'm going to do my best to live through teaching students the final day before Christmas break. It doesn't help that we are scheduled to get our first snow fall tomorrow during those hours.
The Monkey Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 32 OHM East? Maybe "The Old Ohmstead"? That truly sucks! Never a good time to get news like that but I always wonder why so many find out during the holidays. Inglorious bastards! I think they want to be able to realize as much of the charges with respect to termination in Q4. I also think part of the timing was driven by leasing issues for the office being closed. Dinny, at least it wasn't the typical "Merry christmas, you have 24 hrs to clean out your desk" Too many people laid off. WARN Act kicked in, which means that the employer is required to provide 3-months notice. Absent such a requirement, I think an armed escort would have been provided for the whole bunch.
Grahame Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Stayed up way too early listening on my 1999's
Grahame Posted December 18, 2009 Report Posted December 18, 2009 Was subject to multiple euphonic, euphoric aural events. Isn't that what the kids are calling them now?
Hopstretch Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Had some outstanding human interactions at the Post Office (last day to get your cards in the mail) and at the grocery store (last few hours to stock up ahead of the big Nor'Easter). Then I went to the liquor store, where they were having a whisky tasting and everyone was pretty mellow.
Old Pa Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Then I went to the liquor store, where they were having a whisky tasting and everyone was pretty mellow. At least you saved the best for last. Wonder what it would have been like the other way around? I, on the other hand, tried to talk SWMBO into specifying a timeframe and location for a warm vacation this winter but no no avail. She would rather wait until everybody's booked up.
grawk Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 started to shovel my driveway, quickly gave up, and drove my car to the bottom of the hill. That way, when I dig out, it'll just be the last 3 ft, not the first 75
The Monkey Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Woke up sicker than when I went to bed. Sat around. Complained. Now will listen to some tunes, take some medicine, and drink some whiskey til Katie and Jack come home. Then we'll decorate the tree.
Augsburger Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Sorry to hear about this Dinny, here's to hoping everyone stays positive and perseveres through it all. David glad to hear both patients are doing well.
grawk Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 today was going to be our tree acquisition day, not sure what we'll do now.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 Hope you feel better soon, Dinny. I've got two words for you: hot toddy. Me: stayed home, did laundry, chilled with teh kittehs, worked on some music stuff.
Grahame Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 I'm going to Disneyland! You won the SuperBowl?
Hopstretch Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Blow blow shovel shovel blow blow shovel shovel lunch shovel shovel Pats game beer beer.
Hopstretch Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Win Bastard. I should have turned on our hot tub this year.
grawk Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 went to a cut it yourself tree farm, and trudged through 2 ft deep snow, picked out a tree, cut it down, and dragged it back to the car.
tyrion Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 This is from yesterday. My photography skills are certainly lacking. 4 wins, 3 by pin, 1 loss by pin and a silver medal. My son is on the left in the top pic and on top in the bottom pic.
manaox2 Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Nursed a hangover from friend's graduation/going away party last night.
Dusty Chalk Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Chris -- total win on that. Take that, Mother Nature! Bitch!
