Hopstretch Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Put my HT speakers (Aerial Model 8s) up on some Sound Anchor stands I managed to find locally. Reran Audyssey a few times while futzing with the subwoofer gain. Enjoyed the placebo effect for a while.
jinp6301 Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Not eat and almost pass out at the library and a jazz concert
The Monkey Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Went to the Teenage Mutant Nina Turtles 25th Anniversary at the Tribeca Family Film Festival. Jack got his face painted. He hasn't sat that still for that long in over a year.
Duggeh Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Yeah, all face paint should contain sedatives, not just the green.
The Monkey Posted April 24, 2009 Report Posted April 24, 2009 Not so much fun trying to wash it off in the bath. He will look a bit jaundiced tomorrow.
Voltron Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Woke up hung over and muddled from a night out with JP at a show. Went to work late just in time for a last-minute meeting with a potential client that didn't actually happen. Worked some then flew to Vegas for my firm's partner retreat. Walking through Mandalay Bay to get to the restaurant for our dinner, my still foggy and freshly alcohol-soaked brain seemed to see Ray and Grace Samuels hanging out with a group of people. After rubbing my eyes, I walked over and shocked the hell our of Ray and Grace actually realized it was me before he even saw me. Their older son is getting married in Vegas tomorrow so I met the family and we chatted a few minutes before I had to run. Small fricken world.
The Monkey Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Last night--sang Ring of Fire at a karaoke bar. Yeah.
screaming oranges Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 This morning I was cleaning out my "Art Gear" closet when I found a pristine box of artist-grade colored pencils (these aren't like your everyday crayola pencils. the pigmentation is much higher, the lead is soft and covers the paper better, not ot mention that the color is much more resistant to fading). I usually work with the charcoal/graphite medium, and now I remember I was given these a s a gift two years ago to try out. How I even forgot I had these is beyond me... Well, time to get back to my artistic roots. Maybe I should start drawing headphone art, haha! Hmm, come to think of it, that's not a bad idea... maybe start out with the "President Series", showing each US president wearing some cans! Needless to say, good ol' Abe will be wearing some woodies... EDIT: I think I will actually do this! Time to start looking at reference pics of the presidents... I think Nixon is gonna be wearing Skullcandys...
Salt Peanuts Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Did the usual weekend cleaning, then changed the strings on my guitar. Now I know why most music stores offer this service.
grawk Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Designed tshirts, setup website to sell them
screaming oranges Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Designed tshirts, setup website to sell them The problem with this is the whole copyrighted material issue. Unless I go a simpler way of drawing instead of going for portraiture quality. But that's not a bad idea either. This could be interesting. The hard part would be having enough variety to justify opening up a "store" of some kind. We shall see. First things first, I need to draw.
grawk Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Oh, I'm not doing this as a business, just making my job of organizing this tshirt group buy easier.
VPI Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Do you two realize you are talking about different things?
grawk Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Ah, yah, I wasn't responding to your art thing, oranges, I was talking about the website I built a few minutes ago to use to organize these tshirts for canjam.
screaming oranges Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Oh, I see I see. Nonetheless, it is a pretty good idea.
Pars Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Played golf for the first time in a year and a half. Was nice, had a great time.
Augsburger Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Auditioned the Magico M5s again mated to the Meridian 808.2 and the new PS Audio PWT and DAc combo. The PS Audio PWT/DAC was a pretty impressive combo for the price and the M5s are the best pair of speakers I have heard yet. I can't say for sure that the PWT/DAC combo would beat out every CDP or transport/dac combo on the planet but for $6K they seem to beat out a lot of others for me anyway. The I2S interface and ability to play wav, RB, hi res HDX, HDCD, SACD makes this a pretty flexible part of my music network chain.
jp11801 Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 just got back from McCoy Tyner and Bobby Hutcherson, damn those guys still have it, they were amazing and it was evident they were having a ball.
Beefy Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 Removing and replacing the grout in my bathroom tiles. Re-gluing the tiles that were being held up only by the grout and thus fell off the wall
Dusty Chalk Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Popped out a RMI prototype in Java (getting back into the swing of Java development -- haven't done it for a few years -- I only just heard about RMI for the first time on Tuesday, now look at me).
Duggeh Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Ran in the London Marathon ) Did you finish? Raise any money for charity?
jinp6301 Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Had my last senior design presentation this morning. Then got drunk with classmates at 11:30 am.
