Smeggy Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 Ok, Not exactly a huge mod but it's made a huge change to how they sound and they sound ferkin' awesome. I imagine it's somewhere between the SR-Lambda and SR-Sigma and definately has many of the Sigma qualities I've read about with, seemingly, none of the drawbacks. Deeper well rounded bass, smoother highs and a very nice midsection. The soundstage now rivals the K1000 at the angle I normally listen at. Despite the extra distance from the ears there's very little drop in volume and they go really loud in a spectacularly full way. I lined the inside with felt to dampen reflections and used very strong, pliable mounting tape to fix the wedges in place. The seal is perfect and comfort is still great. The wood looks heavy is actually quit light and not noticeable when wearing them. I went for some Rock Maple as a nice light contrast to the black phones. I was having a play with the new wood tools anyway so decided I might as well mod the Lambdas. I'd been planning on doing this since I got them. I love these hobbies!
guzziguy Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 Mmm, Oreos. They kind of look like ice cream sandwiches to me.
dc Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 that looks awesome, do you still wear them the right way around? it seems as if the drivers are no longer pointing towards the ears with this mod
Smeggy Posted May 25, 2008 Author Report Posted May 25, 2008 Thanks Yep, all pointed the right way, The fat part of the normal housing goes to the front so the wedge goes at the back to angle the drivers at the ear.
spritzer Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 Looking good!!! Smart move to leave the drivers and baffle in peace as it can be a pain to mount them.
deepak Posted May 25, 2008 Report Posted May 25, 2008 Smeggy who do I kill to get a pair of these inserts? Great work.
Fing Posted May 29, 2008 Report Posted May 29, 2008 Interesting that you've decided to increase the space from the front rather than the back. Any reason why you chose to do it this way? Is this how it's done on the Sigmas?
