deepak Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Hooleee shit, best hip hop album of the year so far for me Definitely less eclectic than Phrenology which makes it a bit less interesting in parts, but still a very solid album. Maybe it's just because I'm really into it right now, but it's almost Things Fall Apart quality
saint.panda Posted April 28, 2008 Report Posted April 28, 2008 Me loves The Roots. Thanks for the heads up.
Voltron Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Given that this is not out until tomorrow, I am listening to Things Falling Apart. Good stuff.
saint.panda Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Just gave the new album a quick listen, seems solid so far, but I somehow prefer their older stuff. My favourite is still 'Do you Want More?!!!??!' The Birthday Girl video is strange.
hungrych Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Thank god that Birthday Girl isn't on the album... ugh... I can't wait for people to hear it on the radio or whatever and buy the album, and then get blasted in the face with stuff like 75 Bars.
saint.panda Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Thank god that Birthday Girl isn't on the album... ugh... My version has the Birthday girl and a bonus track. Got it off thepiratebay
hungrych Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Well it's not on the actual album, since they decided that it didn't really fit in with the rest of it (y'think?).
guzziguy Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Hooleee shit, best hip hop album of the year so far for me For me, the best hip album of the year is kind of like the best Dogfish post.
deepak Posted April 29, 2008 Author Report Posted April 29, 2008 zing Niggy Tardust, last year, was pretty good, though. Niggy Tardust was good. My favorite from last year was Ghostface - The Big Doe Rehab.
Voltron Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I just put on Rising Down on Rhapsody. good shit. maybe a few too many "nigger" lyrics for office listening.
aardvark baguette Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Every once in a while I'd put on a rap song in my car, but really only to get the subwoofer going. But I'm now a believer in the 'cumulative damage' of loud music, so I tend to never go nuts with it anymore. As a result, I dont really listen to much rap at all. I much prefer electronic music as my 'bass music'.
Dusty Chalk Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I'm white. So I have a stereotype to live up to.
aardvark baguette Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 I cant tell if thats a dig against me or if you are talking about yourself
Dusty Chalk Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 It was meant to be self-deprecating humor, but if you have a guilt complex, I can't help you. No, seriously, if I was putting words in your mouth, I'd try to find some way to let you know, like quote you and change what it said.
hungrych Posted May 1, 2008 Report Posted May 1, 2008 Well I bought it today, but didn't get a chance to listen. Soon! You know it
