More Apple questions - Time capsule this time

Recommended Posts

My dad is in need for a simple back-up solution and a wireless base station. I only found the time capsule as an all-in-one solution.

Is really Apple the only producer of such a box?

He uses windows (on a Thinkpad (r -series?)), anyone knows if the time capsule will work properly as both a wireless switch and a backup solution?

You can mount time capsule disks on windows (I think), but I believe you need your own software to back up to it, as time machine is part of OS X.
