Voltron Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Nice and Lite! Glad to know you are Menacing once again.
cetoole Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Nate, thats hot. I cant wait to hear it next week. Schematics!
Dusty Chalk Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Looks great, Nate! And thanks for the shout out. Yes, Dusty approved.
n_maher Posted November 10, 2009 Author Report Posted November 10, 2009 I would have done the top panel black but I'm saving that for something else.
Dusty Chalk Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 A lot of it's just posturing -- the silver and wood tones with the black transformers look great. Did I just say that out loud?
recstar24 Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 jeez nate great work. Gotta love the LED bias for sure. Great grounding scheme. Definitely interested in seeing the complete schematic.

Definitely interested in seeing the complete schematic. Thanks Ryan (and others), she needs a bit of tweaking and will probably never be a good JH13 amp but that somehow does not phase me.
cetoole Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Tying B+ to the top plate and removing the ground connections would.
Spiug31 Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 from the upskirt that does look very nice, real eyecandy
voodoochile Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 Looking great, nice job on the base, too. I'm peeved that I'll miss the boat saturday. I'd much rather be there!
crappyjones123 Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 how the hell do you get your wiring so neat inspiring work as always nate.
kevin gilmore Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 how the hell do you get your wiring so neat inspiring work as always nate. mikhail taught him..
spritzer Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Not well enough apparently since the SP motto was to have at least 2 joints (insulation optional) in any length of wire...
tyrion Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Nice job Nate. The only real question is how it will sound with the JH13.
n_maher Posted November 11, 2009 Author Report Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) how the hell do you get your wiring so neat inspiring work as always nate.CJ - it's just time, patience and by laying wiring diagrams out beforehand. It doesn't happen by accident. I'd say I spent somewhere between 6 and 8 hours wiring it and that was after having laid everything out beforehand. Example - you'll notice that the tube sockets are orientated such that the filament wires don't have to cross over any of the other pins to make their connections. That is 100% intentional and something I specifically looked at before laying out the top panel of the amp. mikhail taught him.. In a way, yes, as in don't do it his way. Really it just goes to show you how much of a failure his operation was. I'm an amateur yet he somehow makes me look like a pro. Nice job Nate. The only real question is how it will sound with the JH13.Not very good. Noise floor is currently too high, but I'm working on that. But even at the end of my tweaking I'd never pick anything with tubes in it for IEMs unless it was truly professionally built for them. If you insist. It's not even for sale (yet). The Monkey Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Lordy. That looks good. Looking forward to hearing it.
tyrion Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 But it will be. If only I had another set of headphones.
cetoole Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Audez'e LCD2. You know you want them, Mike.
