Cankin
I finally sold my Proline 750 and I'm currently looking at MS-2i. My question is, how well does MS-2i scale? because I'll be upgrading my source(840c) in few months, and I'll be getting a balanced amp(probably a CK2III) few months later after my source upgrade. Does it worth balancing?? I'm also considering are K501/K601, are there anything I should be looking at as well? Thanks for your comments~
boomana
I'm not familiar with the MS-2is, but I think you can do better than the 501s or 601s, though they're quite okay.

I haven't heard the 601s for more than 10 minutes but I did own the 501s at one point and they left me wanting in a big way.
Chekhonte
I've owned the grado sr-80, 225 and 325, sennheiser hd650, ms1 and ms2i. Out of all those headphones I enjoy the ms2i the most. They're an extremely fun and fast headphone with less harsh high end as their grado counterpart. That being said I can't comment much on how well they scale. I have a very limited amount of gear to use with them. My cdp is mid-fi at best and my amp is only on the good side of decent. I think it would be safe to say that they scale as well as any grado headphone which I'm sure you can find ample information about.

They sound great with the CKK imo
boomana
I've heard the 600s with Thrice's CKKIII. Very nice. Balanced might even be nicer.
kpeezy
After hearing HD580s on the CK2III I really wished I hadn't sold them I'm thinking of getting another pair after I get an amp.
Cankin
I had HD650 and liked it, that will be a good option too, but I always heard that the new HD is coming soon, so I don't wanna get something soon to be obsoleted ....... Fungi
Everyone's been saying the new Sennheiser flagship is coming for a long time. If you ask me, something so widely appreciated as the HD650 will never become obsolete, unless the new model offers the same or better at a lower price (unlikely IMO). boomana
It looks like Sennheiser isn't much interested in going that direction.

I'm with Vicki, if when Senn replaces the 650 it won't be with a less expensive headphone. I'd wager it'll be a lot more $$, not that I know anything... grawk
MOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOTMOT LOL. So you're saying not knowing anything makes him a MOT? I can see that

Salt Peanuts
So you're saying not knowing anything makes him a MOT? I can see that I was guessing that his last statement was made in tongue in check. Now that I think about it, I guess it is entirely possible he doesn't know anything about new headphones from Senn. Salt Peanuts
Oh, to the OP, I've liked MS-2i whenever I've tried them, as to how well they scale, no clue (yeah, I know, not helping you a bit). Why don't you wait and find out for yourself when you've upgraded your source (and amp)? Considering their popularity, I doubt you'll have hard time selling them if you decide to get another set of cans.

Salt Peanuts
Ordered Nice. I take it you ordered directly from Alessandro? FYI, it can sometimes take a while before you get cans from them (probably because they'd have to wait for Grado if they don't have any in stock) so be ready to wait. Cankin
I ordered my MS1 directly from Alessandro before, it arrived in about 10 days, which was fast IMO. Now I'm going to find my flat pads, I forgot where I put them.

aerius
It's a bit too loose, how can I make it tighter?? I've already bent the headband Bend it some more. When I got my RS-1 I literally had to spend half an hour bending the damn headband so that it wouldn't fall off my head.

Cankin
I'd probably give some time for the headband to burn in.... maybe 700 hrs?
