jinp6301
So I've been having problems with my wireless for a month now. The wireless card decides to turn itself off at random times, usually once every two days or so, and when I try to turn it back on, it does nothing. So I try the thinkvantage wireless thing and it says its still on when its obviously off. I tried uninstalling the Thinkvantage wireless manager, fooled around with the power settings of the wireless card and logging in and out, but the only thing that works is restarting the computer. Any recommendations thats not reformatting the comp, buy a mac or get linux?

tkam
try going without the thinkvantage wireless manager for awhile, the built-in windows network manager should work fine. do you have any other wireless devices. are they getting disconnected (or shutting off) at similar times? it's also possible that the wireless card in the laptop is going bad. jinp6301
Well this computer is only a couple of months old. I hope the wireless card isint dying And I had thinkvantage wireless manager off for about 2 weeks now, and it made no difference :'(
strid3r
Have you checked the wireless card for any loose connections? Worth a try...

grenert
The Thinkpad forum at: http://forum.thinkpads.com/ is very, very helpful. Maybe someone there can figure it out.

en480c4
My wireless card was set to shut off after a while to save energy, and I kept having to reconnect. Since unchecking that box it hasn't lost its connection once. Check those pesky power management settings!
jinp6301
Thanks Ian. That was the first thing I tried and it seemed to work for most other people except me But I updated the bios last night and people on the thinkpad forum said that might help so I'll see if it happens again
en480c4
I now see you said that in your first post... Lack of reading comprehension for the fail.
