Elephas
Even an amp noob such as myself am aware of the RK50. HeadRoom's Max Balanced amp page has a photo of one, gold and massive-looking. How is a Shallco 45-step attenuator, two of them in an amp? I looked at this page http://www.shallco.com/attenuators.html but it is Greek to me.
spritzer
The Shalco switches are much better made then the Elma units used by DACT and many others but they are huge. Fit some good resistors and you are golden.
justin
The Alps Rk50 is great...but has anyone ever seen a commercial product that uses it? Besides HeadRoom offering it as an option...it's been around for a while and ive never seen it except for a handful of crazy DIYers. There must be some big customer for them

There must be some big customer for them Kondo uses them as the...ahem... budget option in the preamps with a huge stepper as the 2000UKP option with hand made silver resistors. Budget option, huh? That's great. Man, I wish I could afford 4-gang RK50, but it's bit too pricey for me. Good god it really is all out assault I was all about the $180 Joshua Tree I plan to use. Thanks for reminding me about Joshua Tree - time to go read about it again.

Budget option for Kondo but they aren't exactly cheap either. They are how ever amazing value when compared to that 110k$ Lamm and other very expensive amps that use standard parts. The RK50 is crazy expensive at 900$ but since there will be no Black Gate caps in the amp I might as well splurge on the signal path.
