jinp6301 Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Looks like I'll be pre-ordering a 32GB tomorrow. I've had my original iPhone 16GB sitting in the closet waiting to activate it for my wife but never got around to it (she's not much for smart phones). Now with the new data plans I'll giver her my 3G and add the $15 data plan, upgrade to the 4 and keep my unlimited plan. All of this will be cheaper than an iPad (key selling point). Looking at eBay the the iPhone 2G 16GB are selling for $200+!! Are people in non-3G areas buying these? I was thinking the going rate would be $75-100. I would totally buy your 2g for $100. i think it's due to people who are using it on tmobile, since the 3g doesn't work with the iPhone, which is what I want to do
Hopstretch Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Woot! Apple are selling the new model fully unlocked in the UK right from the start.
Salt Peanuts Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Now it's down for me as well, though the process was working when I posted it. It appears to be still working on the AT&T site, though when I just went through it for fun using a Family Plan, it'd only let me add iPhone as additional phones/lines.
bhd812 Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 tried 10 times, made it so far to the select your option pick up or delivery then BAM! time out! its done now, We Crashed Apple! i love this shit!
VPI Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I ordered mine through AT&T as I decided it would be easier to apply the corporate discounts when I set up the account instead of fighting through the add existing account fiasco they do.
tyrion Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 There is a rumor that Radio Shack will take 3GS in trade for a $200 credit. This will save me from having to sell 3 phones and the new phones cost me nothing. I may pre order on AT&T just in case it's only a rumor.
Hopstretch Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Looks like that's kosher. As long as you can apply the gift card to a new iPhone 4. RadioShack (RadioShack) on Twitter
tyrion Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I'm trying to do this from Dublin while waiting to leave for a tour and the internet is pretty sketchy here so it may have to wait until I get home tomorrow.
Hopstretch Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I'm trying to do this from Dublin while waiting to leave for a tour and the internet is pretty sketchy here. It's probably drunk.
Salt Peanuts Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 So tempting, but gotta buy a friggin' car first.
luvdunhill Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 so, after you get the credit from Radio Shack, what are the prices for the phones, assuming no incentives from AT&T? I cannot seem to find this info...
Voltron Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 It's probably drunk. Why are people so psyched for the 4? Should I be psyched too?
n_maher Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 It's marginally better than the 3GS, if you're due for an upgrade and don't mind being AT&T's bitch for the next two years or are willing to pay the unsubsidized price (if they even offer it that way right now) then go for it. Otherwise it holds little appeal to me, nice screen and all. Every app is going to have to be re-written yet again for the new resolution so early adoption doesn't seem all that sweet. One more point - the true conspiracy theorist are noting that Apple once again has the Moscone Center booked for late April, just a few days after the '4' ships. The running theory is that Apple's last gesture to AT&T was to give them the '4' exclusively to start but that at the end of the month after the early adopters have jumped on the train they are going to finally announce the iPhone on other carriers. I'm not sure I buy that, but it's fun to think about.
tyrion Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Al, yes. Nate, I assume you meant late June? It has a better screen, faster processor, better camera, front facing camera for video chat (my family all will have them), is enough for me to upgrade. Unfortunately, ATT is the best choice for me down here. Marc, if you are eligible for an upgrade now, the cost for the 16GB should be zero after trade in.
HeadphoneAddict Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 Still can't get a pre-order through due to it timing out.
penger Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I decided not to go through apple because there's no option that lets me keep my current texting plan. On the other hand, AT&T's website isn't letting me preorder at the moment. bummer
n_maher Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 Yes Mike, they have the hall booked for some time in late June, I can't remember the exact dates now.
veloaudio Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 The Apple online Store and AT&T have been a complete failure for me. Using the Apple Store iPhone App I have successfully reserved one at my local store for pickup on June 24th. I'm skeptical because there is no payment involved with a reservation so I'm going to keep trying to preorder.
HeadphoneAddict Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I got my pre-order done through ATT using the upgrade option within my account. Pages were loading slow, but I got it done. Article about system being down: http://www.macrumors.com/2010/06/15/iphone-4-pre-orders-bring-down-servers-and-generate-long-lines/
n_maher Posted June 15, 2010 Author Report Posted June 15, 2010 International rumors are already flying about the delivery date getting pushed to July 10th.
The Monkey Posted June 15, 2010 Report Posted June 15, 2010 I am waiting for Verizon, which I hope will be this year.
