CD44hi
Got the Kindle"s Touch apln. Like many here and elsewhere have mentioned, rotation and customizable fonts and backgrounds would be nice. Should not be hard to get in. Otherwise the simplicity is a bonus. And the instant gratification part is the hook.
Hopstretch
I picked it up last week... It's next on my list. Either of you guys read The Terror? I have. As alluded to, it's a doorstop but worth the effort if you have the time. Simmons can really write. (And write, and write, and ...)
en480c4
It's one of my favorite books of the last 10 years. It didn't feel long to me, either time I read it. I've never been able to get into his fantasy stuff, but the rest of his stuff is great. Summer of Night is amazing, as are the subsequent novels with the characters from that book as adults, like Darwin's Blade and A Winter Haunting. I'm really looking forward to starting Drood, right after I finish re-reading The Historian.

Hopstretch
Amen! Pretty much rubs out every remaining small annoyance of mine on the software side. Now can we have more storage and a faster processor and n wireless and a pony in the next hardware rev please?
naamanf
I bet there will be some good GPS apps available when 3.0 comes out. As for the springboard just jailbreak it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81IOZYpgWnk
gtp
Cut/Copy/Paste/MMS/Stereo Bluetoth/landscape keyboards/search/push notification/...... 3.0 apparently not available til summer...bummer.
Dusty Chalk
I wish they would support external bluetooth keyboards.
naamanf
3.0 apparently not available til summer...bummer. Yeah that part sucks. It is available to developers today though. I wonder is someone might release to the interwebs. I wish they would support external bluetooth keyboards. It might be possible now that they are allowing external hardware support over bluetooth. thrice
AppleInsider | iPhone 3.0 to offer MobileMe users "Find My iPhone" feature Neat article about potential feature.
Voltron
This new 3.0 release makes me think that a new iPhone will come out at the same time this summer. I guess I will wait with my old Razer for a couple more months...
n_maher
Yeah that part sucks. It is available to developers today though. I wonder is someone might release to the interwebs. I've already seen a BETA available for download.
n_maher
Fair enough, I did exactly ZERO research since I don't own an Iphone and am keeping the Touch legal. I was merely pointing out that there are certainly copies floating around out there.
Dusty Chalk
it has to be activated through the dev program, so unless you are a dev or know somebody with an open spot, all it's gonna do is fuck your iPhone/iTouch up something awfulActually, it runs on your computer, so...no problem. tyrion
Macrumors reported that one of the developers was able to find the tethering program in 3.0 but was able to use it to tether to his computer. This and copy/paste are the two things I've been waiting for. Hopefully, we will have access soon.
aardvark baguette
As a former iphone user I never understood the constant need to hack the iphone. And that was before apps came out.
n_maher
From what I've read you have to at least have purchased the development pack ($99) in order to activate the beta.
thrice
Not only does it need to be registered via a dev account, but it will lock the device you put it on as a test device... you apparently will not be able to restore the device to factory settings or to any other OS version.
thrice
from what i've read, you can restore it to factory settings, but it's difficult. I bet it is. Oh well, we'll all see it in action this summer. Looks like some nice additions and new features. Makes the newer touch a bit more compelling, unless something new in touch-land is coming. Macrumors product guide shows the current touch to be close to refresh.... perhaps something new soon.
Dusty Chalk
Yeah, I think I'll wait -- thanks for reinforcing the warnings, guys. I can't really afford to brick (or even render temporarily brick) my iPhone right now.
naamanf
Word to the wise. Don't drop or iPhone into the toilet. Everything will still work except for the mic/speakers:palm: Thankfully everything was nice and solid today. Best Buy waranty FTW.
