Hopstretch
Throwing in the Nike+ functionality out of the box is nice if you run.
JBLoudG20
Throwing in the Nike+ functionality out of the box is nice if you run. Agreed, but I kept my nano just for that purpose.. the touch is too big, IMO, to run with.
grawk
Heh, back when I used to run (a LONG time ago) I used a big clunky cassette walkman .
n_maher
Color me meh, I don't see anything in the new touch that would motivate me to buy one over what I already have. The speaker would almost assuredly be rendered moot by any sort of functional case and the volume buttons might get lost there as well. JBLoudG20
Heh, back when I used to run (a LONG time ago) I used a big clunky cassette walkman . Heh. I actually just sold my nano, cause I want smaller. I'll prolly grab a cheap shuffle to suit the purpose.

I wasn't in the market no matter what, but seeing as I bought my touch about 3 months ago, I was kinda hoping for a mediocre release like this
naamanf
I was hoping for 64gb Touch. Oh well. Looks like I might have to get the 32gb for now. And maybe a Nano to replace my gen1.
Hopstretch
Yeah, I like this Nano a lot better than the last one. But I'm genetically biased to favor long and thin.
n_maher
I wish they'd quit farting around with little tweaks like this and get busy writing an app to play video formats other than *.mov or whatever quicktime uses. Having to transcode everything blows.
Salt Peanuts
I was hoping for 64gb Touch. Same here. I wish they'd quit farting around with little tweaks like this and get busy writing an app to play video formats other than *.mov or whatever quicktime uses. Having to transcode everything blows. I'm surprised that there aren't little plug-ins/apps that just does that phone you on iPhon/Touch.
aardvark baguette
I was really, really, really hoping they would have new ipod classics with more storage space, as opposed to less . I really hope they aren't planning a gradual phase out of the original, high-volume audio player, cause the competition blows. And I got me a lot of apple lossless
n_maher
I would bet that Classic sales have been slow since the introduction of the Touch line and that part of the reason they didn't bump capacity on the Touch at this point was to try and prop up sales of the Classic. Of course they went and dropped the price of the Touches which isn't going to help the matter.
Hopstretch
Really loving iTunes 8 grid view. Be interested to hear how well it deals with a really big library, though.
humanflyz
Disappointed that they decided to phase out the 160 gig: I'm already at 111 gig for my 160gig, so 120 gig definitely ain't cutting it. And this is not even encoded in ALAC, only at 192.
Salt Peanuts
Really loving iTunes 8 grid view. Be interested to hear how well it deals with a really big library, though. Bit annoying, actually. Reminds me of the last interface change iPod went through - looks pretty and neat, but slows down the overall operation without really adding anything functional, unless, of course, you happen to be someone who remembers albums by their covers. Also, it's doing weird things to all my albums that have multiple artists/performers.
Hopstretch
Also, it's doing weird things to all my albums that have multiple artists/performers. Yeah, that's annoying. There must be a way to edit the metadata to collapse those to a single listing of your choice. Sure some bright spark will figure it out within 48 hours. grawk
sure, the album artist field, I figured that one out back with coverflow
