Salt Peanuts Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Going by the Slow Forum, it is definitely snappier than ios 7.
crappyjones123 Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Apparently if you have ~500 mb free like I did it prompts 4.7gb space needed for install (wish I had taken a picture of it) but if you have more than 1gb free, then it is ok. Stupid but whatever. Will investigate the embedded youtube issue more in a few hours.
Salt Peanuts Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 ...and Home Sharing works again on my phone! Woohoo!
robm321 Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Pretty quick on my 5S also. I think it asked to free up 5.8 gb or something to install.
MexicanDragon Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 Are these for OTA updates or tethered updates?
Salt Peanuts Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 (edited) OTA update on my 5s. Mine did not ask me to free up extra space, though (about 10gb free spce at the time of update). Doing tethered update on iPad 4 since it got stuck trying it OTA. Didn't ask to free up extra space here either. Edited September 17, 2014 by Salt Peanuts
grawk Posted September 17, 2014 Report Posted September 17, 2014 I downloaded the gold master for the iphone 5 and 5s, and am doing an OTA update on the ipad mini.
grawk Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 I still haven't gotten a receipt for someone buying me one
Salt Peanuts Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Updating somehow killed Safari and Mail on my iPad 4. I think this is the first time I've had any problem with an iOS update. Easy enough to fix by restoring from a backup.
grawk Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 my daughter's iphone 5 doesn't work with tmobile wifi calling. It's a known bug, but it was the main reason she wanted to jump on day 1.
MexicanDragon Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 I've been using wifi calling for years. It's fantastic when you need it. **BRENT**
Aura Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Just finished update to my iPhone 5 via OTA. Holy hell it took a long time to install. So far though, really liking the additions to the keyboard, texting, and the camera. The voice recording within text is super awesome. And I'm seeing zero lag. If anything, my phone seems snappier.
blessingx Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Just finished update to my iPhone 5 via OTA. Holy hell it took a long time to install. Trying to update my iPad 3. Held steady at 12 hours to update OTA. After a couple hours stopped and started downloading in iTunes. Now showing 26 hours.
Hopstretch Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Gave up. Will try again tonight.
Aura Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Trying to update my iPad 3. Held steady at 12 hours to update OTA. After a couple hours stopped and started downloading in iTunes. Now showing 26 hours. Damn, I thought the 2 hours it took me was bad.
Grahame Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 IPad mini took all day at work, yesterday using the guest wifi. Saw "7 hours remaining" at one point.
Salt Peanuts Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) My 5s took less than an hour for the update. iPad 4 took about 3 hours, including the time I needed to reset/restore from backup. Edited September 18, 2014 by Salt Peanuts
grawk Posted September 18, 2014 Report Posted September 18, 2014 Yah, my ipad mini took forever. About 7 minutes to download, and about an hour to do the actual install.
n_maher Posted September 19, 2014 Author Report Posted September 19, 2014 I only watched through about the first five but it's hilarious how many of these have been on Android for years... 4
tyrion Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 I have a bunch of these features on my Note 3 and they are implemented just fine. I've been using Swiftkey and Swipe since I got my S4 and it works great, as an example. Just saying. They are both great keyboards and worth trying. 2
tyrion Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 I installed Swiftkey, and don't care for it much. I also have Fleksy, which has promise. Probably not implemented well in ios8. 1
shellylh Posted September 19, 2014 Report Posted September 19, 2014 Sure, some of the features have been on Android for years, but there are many that Android doesn't have built in yet. Why all the hate?
