Dreadhead Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) Work saw fit to replace my Blackberry with a iPhone/Good. Coming from Android for personal use it's quite different, I like a few things dislike a bunch more. The Good part of it for work is shitty, slow, and unstable. I met the SES that was in charge of this mobile roll out decision and he seemed reasonably intelligent but this platform sucks for what we I do. Edited November 4, 2015 by Dreadhead
Hopstretch Posted November 29, 2015 Report Posted November 29, 2015 This seems plausible. And also like it would cause much wailing and gnashing of teeth. http://www.macrumors.com/2015/11/27/iphone-7-no-3-5mm-headphone-jack-lightning/
Grahame Posted November 29, 2015 Report Posted November 29, 2015 Yeah, that excess girth has really been depressing iPhone sales ... /s As others point out the iPod is thinner and still manages to fit a 3.5mm jack. So monetizing all those high margin adapters, and selling all those licensed peripherals to the user base? Time to buy some more AAPL?
CD44hi Posted November 29, 2015 Report Posted November 29, 2015 A bit unrelated, have scheduled the replacement of iSight cameras for both phones here. These are included in the possibly defective batch. I know for sure Julie's camera is wacky. Mine seems fine. After talking with the Apple Store people they actually advice a replacement on both, even if mine appears fine, since they are offering the work under the recall, they advice to just get it done. So have one appointment on for next weekend for one and need to schedule the other one.
n_maher Posted November 30, 2015 Author Report Posted November 30, 2015 I know Al's had to be replaced. It was taking sweet blurry photos when he first got the 6+. 1
Voltron Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 Yup. It worked for awhile then went fuzzy. They replaced it at the Apple Store in 30 minutes or so following diagnosis. Fine since then. 2
HeadphoneAddict Posted November 30, 2015 Report Posted November 30, 2015 I can't find info about this using Google. My 6s Plus photos do look a bit better than my 6 Plus, especially in low light conditions, but the old 6 Plus pix aren't what I would call blurry. Should I be worried?
MexicanDragon Posted December 6, 2015 Report Posted December 6, 2015 So Zoe was having a sleepover and they were all filming with a friend's iPhone 5. Someone knocked it down while recording and the screen went black and now it won't cut on. I tried the basic stuff like power button/home button pressing at the same time, but it won't come on. There were some beeps made when it was plugged in, but that's all I get. Can anyone point me in the right direction to try to get this going before the parents get here? (They already know and the kid is upset about it, but trying to salvage something here.) Thanks. **BRENT**
luvdunhill Posted December 19, 2015 Report Posted December 19, 2015 So, having the proper radio can make a difference 2
MexicanDragon Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 So has everyone missed the new iPhone 5se? 4" iPhone that's basically an iPhone 6 in a ca. 2012 form factor.http://www.engadget.com/2016/01/22/apple-s-4-inch-iphone-is-reportedly-a-6-in-a-5s-case/ **BRENT**
Salt Peanuts Posted January 24, 2016 Report Posted January 24, 2016 ^ I saw it, but was completely underwhelmed by it. A 6s with 4" screen would have been worth the consideration, but a 6 with 4" screen is a complete non-starter for me, especially considering that new models will be arriving in 6 months. The next time I upgrade, I'm going to go with a Plus model (I can't use 4.7" screens comfortably with one hand, might as well go bigger if I'm need to use two hands anyways), unless they release top models with a 4" screen.
MexicanDragon Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Weren't you one of the two who thought that 4" phones were too big? **BRENT**
grawk Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 I'm in the same boat. I like the iphone 6S+ screen more than any but the iphone 4. If I've gotta go bigger than the 4, may as well go all the way big. 1
n_maher Posted January 26, 2016 Author Report Posted January 26, 2016 For me it's simple math, either the phone fits in my pocket sitting down (6/6s does) or it doesn't (6+/6S+). Of course I also barely use my phone for anything other than a phone and texting appliance so I'm not exactly their core user either.

shellylh Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 There is no way that on wearing anything but jeans so smaller phones are a must.
Dusty Chalk Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 1 hour ago, EdipisReks said: I find dress pants to have pretty voluminous pockets, by and large. My Abboud Chinos are fairly fitted, and the 6S+ has plenty of room in those, too. My pockets are plenty big, but it's not comfortable sitting down in the front, and I worry about bending or cracking it in back. Plus the front ones are already dedicated. (And for reference, I'm talking about my Galaxy Note 4, also a larger phone.)
Torpedo Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 My iPhone 5, three years old already, yesterday gave errors trying to place calls. After reboot, it won't unlock the SIM card, so it works, it can use Wifi and apps, but the telephone part is dead. I've rebooted several times with the same results. Do SIM cards go awry and produce errors like this? I can't try with another card since the iPad (same telephone number and connection) is larger than iPhone's. The cellular account should be good, the iPad can connect to the service provider. Maybe a reminder to get a new one, however the 6 is too large, I love the smaller format of the 5
MexicanDragon Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 SIM cards can mess up. Just go to the provider and they can give you a new one and switch it over for you. You may need to back it up and do a factory reset if the new SIM doesn't work. If you don't want to buy a new phone, then try those. If you're in the market for something, well, go for it. **BRENT**
Torpedo Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 Thanks, Brent. It was the SIM, a new one (9€) is working fine. It could have been much worse. 2
MexicanDragon Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 9 fake dollars isn't bad to get a 700$ toy working again; glad it wasn't too bad. **BRENT**
Torpedo Posted February 13, 2016 Report Posted February 13, 2016 LOL @fake dollars. Sometimes it feels like that 1
