Dreadhead Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 It's here: Steve Jobs live from WWDC 2010 -- Engadget
Beefy Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 The high res screen is pretty freaking impressive...... ...... but bloody awful bull-marketing in the name - retina display?!?
Dreadhead Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Ok even as an professed Apple disliker I was very impressed but I'm not to sure how I feel about having banner ads in the OS. Edit: Nissan is locking the leaf to only iphone ads? Better tell the 10000 plus people that have preordered that....
VPI Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 I am going to pass. My biggest question would be when they would get the new OS to the iPad as he only mentioned iPhones and Touches.
Hopstretch Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 I am going to pass. My biggest question would be when they would get the new OS to the iPad as he only mentioned iPhones and Touches. Well, he said iAds are live July 1 for "all iOS devices". That strongly implies the iPad will have joined the party by then. Anyone catch whether South Africa was in the July rollout batch of countries for the new iPhone? I'll never make it to August! Homina homina.
blessingx Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Edit: Nissan is locking the leaf to only iphone ads? Better tell the 10000 plus people that have preordered that.... I'm pretty sure they're only locking the iPhone iAd to iPhones.
emelius Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 looks very impressive...but if there isn't a way to turn off iAds?... maybe after a jailbreak...
n_maher Posted June 7, 2010 Author Report Posted June 7, 2010 Nice, but I'll be content with a 3GS (wink wink, nudge nudge).
Salt Peanuts Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Frick, I'm tempted enough that I'm trying to figure out how the pre-ordering would work for folks who are not currently with AT&T while keeping the numbers.

Anyone catch whether South Africa was in the July rollout batch of countries for the new iPhone? I'll never make it to August! Homina homina. South Africa was not on the July list. I have been holding off on getting a phone waiting for this to come out but at this point I do not see enough good to overcome the AT&T service so will probably end up with something else.
Hopstretch Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 South Africa was not on the July list. Gah. Anyone traveling to France after June 24? As I recall, by law they have to sell fully unlocked versions of any handset available on contract there.

Android Unspeakable?
recstar24 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Nice, but I'll be content with a 3GS (wink wink, nudge nudge). I have the older 3G iPhone and just got off the phone with AT&T about early upgrading to a 3GS. She wasn't very helpful and said her system wasn't lea enough but felt I was early eligible to upgrade to a 3GS at their full eligibility price even though my upgrade date is still set for 2/17
jinp6301 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 *cough* I'm still looking for an older iphone *cough*

bhd812 Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 I am going to pass. My biggest question would be when they would get the new OS to the iPad as he only mentioned iPhones and Touches. Steve said fall for the ipad in the keynote before this, sucks all the new shiny ipads are going to be behind 3rd gem touches for os...well it sucks for ipad owners
n_maher Posted June 7, 2010 Author Report Posted June 7, 2010 I just noticed that none of the phones got a bump in storage, the max is still 32GB which doesn't seem wise given the HD nature of the new phone. Higher definition video content is going to eat that storage up just like it does on an iPad.
blessingx Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 These Sam Mendes ads are touching. Strange 50% of the world is in bed though. Viddler.com - iPhone 4 FaceTime promo - Uploaded by engadget

Viddler.com - iPhone 4 Face Time promo - Uploaded by engadget thought it was a bit touching myself, sort of emotionally to much for an ad for a cell phone...me likes! this brings sexting to a new level!
Salt Peanuts Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 (edited) I think 32 gb chips are still the largest available in volume, and the phone probably only has one slot on the board. This was the case with 3GS (and I assume previous ones). Touch goes up to 64gb since they've got not phone parts in them, despite it being thinner than 3GS. Edited June 7, 2010 by Salt Peanuts
en480c4 Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 While not iPhone related, holy hell Safari 5.0 is fast!!!
